Deep kimchi, fat boy !
It’s too late. NK has stated that it has caught up to the US militarily. Where’s Baghdad Bob when you need him?
The only way to deal with North Korea and their cult like followers is 100 to 150 tactical nukes. North Korea has over 100,000 artillery pieces pointed at Soul, and any response from us would probably lead to an attack on Seoul. Plus I would not be surprised if they attacked Japan too.
We don’t really have to worry so much about North Korea’s response but China’s and Russia possible military response.
The ROK (”South Korean”) and our 2nd Division have counter-battery fire to return fire on those North Korean cannons while the rounds are still in the air. Everyone here seems to forget that South Korea has a large, capable, well-equipped military that’s one of the best in the world.
Destroy it slowly and painfully for the horrors they have inflicted and the attacks they threaten. Let Kim watch the death of his country.
If SOuth Korea’s military is so great why aren’t we pulling our troops from there ? They are sitting ducks if Kim decides to attack the South .
That’s true but I don’t think they can stop that many rounds?
North Korea does have a 2 million man army and the tunnels to South Korea. Hopefully we know where all the tunnels are at and will implode them with North Korean Army in them.
They have nuclear-powered missile submarines? Strategic bombers? Railguns? Stealth aircraft? Dozens of aircraft carriers?
Actually our troops are in the process of being moved well South of Seoul, something that’s been ongoing for years now. Also, our troops no longer man the DMZ and haven’t for some time. This is 2017, not 1957. And they’re there to show our commitment to South Korea. Kim attacking the South will not be a replay of 1950 in any way, shape or form. South Korea is one of the most prosperous small countries on Earth and has a much bigger population than North Korea, with no hunger or want.
I wish I could show you the narrow defiles and passes that the North Korean Army will have to pass through to invade the South and the almost 70 years worth of booby traps, obstructions and defenses in those areas. The ROKs have not been sitting on their hands all this time. Plus they’ll be using modern anti-tank weapons and artillery on tanks from the 1950’s and 1960’s. It will be worse than Desert Storm.
You are right . It is 2017 and not 1950 . The U.S. security presence in SK is a very expensive not to mention dangerous commitment that we can no longer afford. Add to that it has never brought the U.S. much popularity in the South Korea , where our soldiers are a constant irritant to nationalists there . The South is no longer a poor nation , like you said , and is not in need of protection from the specter of global communism . They are more than capable of standing on their own two feet.
Our soldiers aren’t “popular” with at least half the people in this country, why would you expect them to be popular in another country? And not all South Koreans are anti-US, it’s mostly the college crowd stirred up by leftist professors. Sound familiar? There are a ton of South Koreans who appreciate our being there, but they mostly don’t have time to demonstrate, since they have jobs and other commitments. Again, just like here.
At any rate , it’s my belief that the troops should be brought home . Trump said as much at one point but apparently has had his mind changed by his generals .
Aren’t the admirals and the generals pretty much the experts? I spent a lot of time with flag officers due to my job in the Army and I can tell you that the duds get weeded out around major or lieutenant colonel if not lower. If you have stars there’s a reason for it. If the brass feels we still belong there we probably do.
I agree with Steve Bannon who said he was open to withdrwaing U.S. troops from South Korea if North froze its nuclear program ( and concomitantly ceasing threatening its neighbors) . Guess the generals had something to to with showing him the door .
I doubt it. Didn’t Bannon say he was only going to be there 7 or 8 months? It was said that he resigned.
You believe everything they tell you ? THere’s a hell of lot more they don’t tell us , and that is where the truth usually can be found . Bannon was forced out IMHO , for a variety of reasons . We’ll never know for sure , obviously .
POint was I agreed with him about N/S Korea .
We are tired of it out here.
It does NOT resonate with Pyongyang. It does NOT scare them. They have come to EXPECT IT.
A nation which can survive on eating grass will require many many more things than threats and words to motivate it. As it is, this the replay of a very bad 25-year-old long-running movie.
Ms. Haley has a set, so to speak. Love it!
And I love how they have belittled him by calling him “Rocket Man.” LOL!
They are dealing with some extremely serious issues, but they also bring some good old-fashioned American fun to the table. It is a way to defuse the issue ... and to make Kim Jun-Un feel like the tiny man he is.
Whenever I see a pic of him, I CANNOT stand how he is so obviously well-fed when the rest of the population has to live on grass and tree bark.
LOL! That is what is coming, Kim... ;) A beatdown the likes of which you have never seen.
We just need to protect South Korea...and then all bets are off.
I hope we are transporting SK citizens somewhere safe as we speak.
