Crews arranged by Dallas officials removed a statue of Robert E. Lee from a pedestal Thursday and carted it away from a park named for the Confederate general.

In an unannounced move, a large crane was brought through the city by a police escort to Lee Park, where it lifted the large statue from its pedestal late Thursday afternoon.

City officials said in a statement that an art conservator monitored the proper handling of the statue, and police tactical officers with automatic rifles provided security.

The statue was lowered onto a flatbed trailer for transport to an abandoned naval air station owned by the city on its western outskirts. It’s expected to remain there until city officials decide the statue’s future. …

I just read the article that you linked; it is horrifying. The vast majority of people in this Country would not agree with this.

Veteran’s Day is coming up. President Trump should schedule a prime time speech to address this absolutely ridiculous denigration of our American history. It must stop now.

They’re stopping civil war reenactments now. They’re afraid the people in the confederate uniforms might spark tensions.
Sheeesh.

The fact this is done under the cover of darkness says everything.

That would be NAS DALLAS, where I joined the Naval Air Reserves in Oct. of my Sr. year of HS, in 1959, and returned to reserves after my active duty. It’s located on the N side of Mountain Creek Lake and and was just down the street from Chance-Vaught and Temco aircraft manufacturer’s. An adjacent facility was Hensley Field.

Lee Park was in a ritzy area of Dallas in the ‘50s-’60s (Turtle Creek area) that went downhill after the surrounding area called The Oak Lawn became a hippy/LGBT neighborhood.

Might as well castrate this country and be done with it.

The tyranny of the minority and Soros money.

They’re all castle sappers, destroying the country from within.

I thank God that I am not a young person who will have live in this Gulag for a long time.

No it wasn’t. It’s been on the local news for a couple of weeks. The Mayor and City Council set up a committee to make a decision after receiving input from pro and con citizens. They delayed until an art curator could find a secure place to store the monument (old NAS DALLAS).

Dallas is a Dem stronghold like Austin, Houston and San Antonio, as well as what I term a sanctuary city.

That statue can’t hurt anyone now. The lives of black children across the region are noticeably brighter today, out of that oppressive bronze shadow. Why, once every last statue of a white boy is gone, blacks will all be happy, healthy, productive, and finally able to live the lives denied them by the tyranny of history and art.

Ditto. I am also thankful that I do not have children to sacrifice to said Gulag.

This is not about General Lee. It is about power. “When we say jump. Jump!” When all the Confederate statues are gone will these clowns go home? No! Jefferson is next. One day Washington D.C. will be renamed Obamabad.

The Dallas City Council voted Sept. 6 to remove the statue but was met with a series of delays, including a brief court stay obtained by a pro-Confederacy group and a collision between a semitrailer and a crane assigned to remove the statue.

The truck driver was killed.

Another victim of Democratic Party pandering.

I believe Lee was given a pardon after the war and urged reconciliation.

This is simply a disgrace, but that is what happens when you elect Democrats.
