The party's over: Republicans and Democrats are both finished
CNBC ^ | September 14, 2017 | by Jake Novak

Stick a fork in the Democrats and Republicans.

Wednesday night's latest round of deal making between President Donald Trump and Democratic congressional leaders is the latest evidence that the major political parties have lost all semblance of real power.

Never before have we seen the leadership of both major political parties so humbled. That power vacuum is currently enabling the president to act without any loyalty to his own party, while working with whomever he pleases on whatever issues he wants.

It's why we have a Republican congressional leadership, headlined by a Senate Majority Leader with an 18 percent approval rating in his own home state, that could not deliver on its party's seven-year-long promises to repeal and replace Obamacare.

And it's why the Democratic Party is getting more and more embarrassed as its highly-experienced-but-failed 2016 presidential nominee continues to weaken the brand by going on a national tour blaming everyone else for her election loss.

These are uncharted waters for sure, but they may not lead to such bad results. After all, the partisan political structure in place for so long has brought us numerous wars, $20 trillion in debt and a government that's grown well beyond its usefulness.

Love or hate it, it's time to face this new reality: The Democratic and the Republican parties as we know them are finished and the politicians, the people who give them money, and the people who cover them need to adjust accordingly.

Don’t buy into this article put out by an NBC group. They lie like a rug. And the only intent of the article was to try to embarrass the president.

“to act without any loyalty to his own party”

NBC has no idea what happened at that dinner meeting concerning commitments to the GOP. And a good illustation of their type of reporting is the changing of the photos by NBC for the Martin shooting on when the shooter, George Zimmerman, arrived at the police station after treatment at the hospital for the head injury he got and they had air brushed out the bandages to make it look like he was fine to make it appear Martin hadn’t attacked him. This article isn’t anything but another group of lies. NBC has a history.

“Name the last third party president who gained the White House. I’ll wait.”

Trump. Registered (R), might as well have been (I) as far as the eGOP is concerned.

The Founders were adamantly opposed to political parties and never intended that they should exist in the USA. We certainly would have done much better without them.

The apparatus of the two parties has its value, still, but voters are issue oriented.

I read the link. I found it interesting to be recalled to George Washington’s warning against parties. The intention was rather to hear good men based on their good character making his case before the people.

Grant it, people were different then as well. Plenty reliant and religious, foolishness was not easily tolerated and because of faith, people understood each other and citizens in government served citizens in a pattern, rotating in and right back out of government.

If only that were true, but alas...

Both will be around for years to come. And THAT is what is wrong with Washington. It would be nice if both parties ceased to exist, but they are not. They have too deep of trenches in Washington. They have been feeding off of that for 150+ years.

The author seems to be saying that the two parties have become powerless and feckless, and thus, both of them are dead. I'd say differently: the two parties have merged into one, the Uniparty, and they're more powerful than ever. The ones who are dead are the voters, and possibly the American experiment.

But see, this is where a certain level of naivete comes into play. WFB makes the mistake (or was purposely playing to his readership) of asserting that different representation would be better.

Well, no sh!t Sherlock. The elite well know the People would be better served with anyone in charge other than themselves in positions of leadership.

However, that's the entire point of their collusion - to block, prevent and otherwise frustrate any outsider(s) from gaining influence & control.

Jefferson's statement "... that experience hath shewn that mankind are more disposed to suffer ..." isn't a warning, it's a flippin' **guideline** for the criminals who know just how far they can push.

All political partying should be conspiracy or RICO act investigations, totally illegal. Only individuals can run for office given a standard government supplied, tiny amount of campaign cash and limited free press (tax write-off) mandatory.

The states not only need to also amend the Constitution to give themselves the power to recall / fire state sovereignty-ignoring federal lawmakers

In the "Amendment Booklet" in Art in Idaho's list, there's one which does the repeal and reaffirms/asserts the right of the State to recall their Senators.

Evil socialists will never stop organizing into a party, so you need a party to oppose them.

Look at Nebraska’s unicameral state leg for an example of non-partisan elections, all it does is empower the left, democrats (and a socialist freak in Omaha) and RINOs both.
