Stick a fork in the Democrats and Republicans.
Wednesday night's latest round of deal making between President Donald Trump and Democratic congressional leaders is the latest evidence that the major political parties have lost all semblance of real power.
Never before have we seen the leadership of both major political parties so humbled. That power vacuum is currently enabling the president to act without any loyalty to his own party, while working with whomever he pleases on whatever issues he wants.
It's why we have a Republican congressional leadership, headlined by a Senate Majority Leader with an 18 percent approval rating in his own home state, that could not deliver on its party's seven-year-long promises to repeal and replace Obamacare.
And it's why the Democratic Party is getting more and more embarrassed as its highly-experienced-but-failed 2016 presidential nominee continues to weaken the brand by going on a national tour blaming everyone else for her election loss.
These are uncharted waters for sure, but they may not lead to such bad results. After all, the partisan political structure in place for so long has brought us numerous wars, $20 trillion in debt and a government that's grown well beyond its usefulness.
Love or hate it, it's time to face this new reality: The Democratic and the Republican parties as we know them are finished and the politicians, the people who give them money, and the people who cover them need to adjust accordingly.

End this system of two-parties who only disagree on how the American people will be impoverished and enslaved and who the ultimate masters will be.
Name the last third party president who gained the White House. I’ll wait.
I think it would be wonderful if both political parties and all their representatives in Congress would simply vanish. Start from scratch. Could not possibly be worse.
Abe Lincoln. When the Republicans replaced the Whigs.
The Whigs had already disappeared, so he really wasn’t a “third party candidate” per se. He had been a Whig in congress.
I'm not so sure they disagree on any of that, however, I agree the battle is to see who the ultimate masters will be. Sadly it will be neither. Civil War will break out, of that I am convinced. Try as we might to advert it, I think the can is just being kicked down the road. Soon there will be no more road on which the can be kicked.
Yeah whatever...
Wake me up when people actually start to view their political representatives according to their position on the authoritarian/libertarian axis rather than their BS confused expectations about “left” and “right”
There is no difference between the “two” parties. There is only one party, a party of aristocratic political elites who spend all there time enriching and empowering themselves at the expense of the American people.
Lincoln.
Correction: It’s the beginning of the end of the Uniparty.
We hope and pray
See my #6.
True Colors
Cyndi Lauper
You with the bad eyes
You ain’t discouraged
Oh I realize
Its hard to take courage
In a world full of people
You lose sight of it all
And the darkness inside you
Can make them feel so small
But we see your true colors
Shining through
We see your true colors
And that’s why we hate you
Cause you ain’t afraid to let them show
Your true colors
True colors are pitiful
Like a rainbow
When the states wise up and repeal the 16th and ill-conceived 17th Amendments, they need to do the following.
The states not only need to also amend the Constitution to give themselves the power to recall / fire state sovereignty-ignoring federal lawmakers, but also to prohibit political party support for federal lawmakers and POTUS.
Delusional, that’s the word.
The sooner the better. They are pushing this country in a very dangerous direction.
Not quite yet. The next election shows prospects of being both a Democrat and RINO slaughter at the polls, with conservatives winning big time.
>>I’m not so sure they disagree on any of that, however, I agree the battle is to see who the ultimate masters will be.
One party wants us to be wards of the state who can choose to indenture ourselves for a period to MNCs. They want Americans to be able to compete on the global labor market, with the lifestyle required to make that work.
The other party wants us to be serfs who serve the state, which will exert control on the same MNCs to move the jobs around as a reward for various behaviors.
I agree with you that we are past the point of no return on a civil war. We just aren’t to the point where we can shoot our Progressive neighbor in the face for no reason but worldviews. They are much closer to that point than we are, but they are scared little bitches who don’t own enough guns.
