Yep. When we get national healthcare, it will be because Corporate America demands it. They desperately want from under that cost.

oh8eleven :" ..He was appalled not only at the h/c system in general, but also how most people just accepted it."

They accept it because there is no national alternative within their border, that is why there is "medical tourism ".
The citizens are already heavily taxed for their healthcare, so they see no additional expense 'out of pocket'.

I wouldn’t put it past the Democrats to do anot Obamacare clone, because they have to keep scamming us as people, they have to intentionally put a flaw in the law as a reason for us to re-elect them to solve exactly the problem they created, then repeat.

Don’t kid yourself. There’s a big medical tourism market for Americans too.

The Republicans have no courage.

Of congressional democRATs all are functionally communists.

Of congressional republicans, about half (maybe more) are functionally communists.

THAT is why we cannot get 0bamacare repealed when it counts. THAT is why border security is going nowhere in congress. THAT is why tax cuts are going nowhere in congress.

Well, that's my point ... the system is so bad, people flee it. If they don't fight it, they'll never come up with something better.

I’m not. I live on Guam but go to the doctor in Hong Kong. However, there is a huge market in Thailand for British and Canadian citizens to get surgery and cancer treatment that they don’t have to wait for. It is a major industry in Thailand.

Another evil idea from the cabal of totalitarian nihilists (I refuse to call them “progressives”). But, Javanka wants it, the Pukes (GOP) want it, the Commies (Dems) want it, and a majority of the electorate wants it. The fact that you and I do not want it and can see it is a catastrophic development is irrelevant. So, it will happen and health care world-wide will decline as our system created ~100% of the life saving innovations. A black market in quality health care is on the way.

>
Republicans ought to provide a binary choice here: Either slide into nationalized health care with Democrats or help us tear away the bulwarks of tyranny in health care in favor of freedom.
>

False dichotomy: Either one adheres to the Constitution, and the limitations therein, or one does not.

Rejecting the ‘tyranny’ in h’care does not exclude any OTHER tyranny imposed and supported by (R).

Course, acknowledging the same would cause the whole house of cards to fall....

Right. It was “newest” 30 years ago.

Try 70. Harry Truman was pushing it.

It seems that here is a chance for Republicans to do what’s right. Wondering if they won’t screw this up too.

"All it takes is courage."

If this is what stands between us and nationalized healthcare, I have one piece of advice to all of you freepers....

Stay healthy!!! Break out those running shoes and hit the pavement, watch what you eat and stay away from all processed meats and fast foods. For Gods sake, don't get in a car, certain death trap!!!!

You nailed it. Around 1990 when GM discovered they could save $880 cost per unit by shifting production to Canada to get out from under employee health care costs, the lights went on in all of their heads.

Running an American corporation these days is less about Capitalism than about cost-shifting and rent-seeking for Government subsidies.

Just out of curiosity, how's that working out for those patients? Especially cancer patients? Do they have access to the latest treatments, medications and equipment? Are the doctors experienced? Where did they get their experience?

Call me skeptical; I work in a healthcare industry, and I'm just not aware of cutting-edge oncology practices in Thailand. Perhaps someone can enlighten me.

Require them (congress, all state and federal leaders and legislatures, everyone) to get in line with the unwashed and see how quickly they change their tune!
