WASHINGTON –  In a political year that has blown up conventional wisdom, the special election to fill the Alabama Senate seat vacated by Sen. Jeff Sessions’ confirmation to Attorney General, may further upend the status quo.

In an August 15th GOP primary, controversial former Chief Justice of the Alabama Supreme Court, Roy Moore, bested interim Senator Luther Strange by roughly 6 percent, forcing a September 26 run-off. On primary night, Moore touted his maverick reputation.

"I'm running to make a difference in Washington, and those in Washington are scared," he said.

I think Trump is still supporting Luther. Probably not a big deal since Moore should win anyway.

These Rinos are so stuck on stupid that they can’t see whether it’s a light at the other end of the tunnel or a long freight train high balling down the tracks coming to grind them into hamburger.

The GOPe is as clueless as Hillary. How many elections do they have to lose & how many post-election analysis have to be done telling them that we hate them before they actually realize we HATE them & are fed up?

The GOP doesn’t seem to understand even the most simple of things.

Good. We need to get Judge Moore in the Senate, then get Rep. Brooks into the other seat.

I think GOPe knows very well what the people want and how they feel. but it’s confident that the people can still be manipulated into voting against their own interests. It’s that confidence that’s being “shaken” by elections like this.

It’s going to be interesting to see how many established RINOs start bragging about how Christian they are. And how many will start toting around those Clinton sized Bibles that should be on a stand by the dinning room table.

I did not think the President backed Strange after the initial endorsement.

From the article:

White House legislative director Marc Short was about the race by reporters at breakfast Tuesday. He said President Donald Trump "has endorsed Luther Strange and he continues to stand by that endorsement."

Actually, that's a pretty weak endorsement if you ask me. And the photo in the article is a file photo, taken who knows when.

Despite all this, and in spite of the Presidents rather tepid endorsement, Luther is tainted as a back room deal maker due to the Bentley thing, even while the President continues to be well regarded.

A lot of Alabamians see it as Trump trying to curry McConnell favor, but it's not working. We don't blame the President, he's desperate to get legislation passed, but Mitch is a b!tch and we, the voters, do not want to curry him any further. Just look at the current polls if you need proof.

My prediction, Moore wins in a landslide. Better stand back a little!

Funny how the establishment/uniparty prefers highly corrupt and compromised candidates over honest ones.

Compromised politicians can be controlled by definition.

Makes you wonder what Menendez's "real" crime was - at least in the eyes of the deep state.
