Hundreds arrived at the Flight 93 National Memorial Monday for the 16th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001.

Westley and Yvonne Thomas of Stanton Island New York, always wanted to come to the Flight 93 National Memorial for Sept. 11 ceremonies. Yvonne said that the Flight 93 ceremony has a calm about it that they do not see at the New York City ceremony. Both said that the 40 passengers and crew are true American heroes.

"There is just a peacefulness, a sense of tranquility," she said. "It's almost like the perfect place."

Westley was in Manhattan on Sept. 11, 2001, and Yvonne, a choreographer, was supposed to be at a rehersal at the World Trade Center, however she overslept on Sept. 11, 2001. Instead of going to the trade center, she decided to go on a run.

"I was running and people kept pointing to the sky," she recalled. "I looked up and all I could see is black smoke. Everything in the sky was black."

Westley, who did two tours in Vietman, actually worked on the World Trade Center construction. He said he could not believe when the towers fell.

Orie Good, a retired United pilot from Lancaster County, attended the ceremony for the second year to pay his respects. He knew flight attendant CeeCee Ross Lyles. Good was off work on Sept. 11, 2001.

"I didn't believe it," he said. "I knew an aircraft couldn't hit the World Trade Center." . . .

That place is such a dump.

It was “built” for like 13 years then finally someone re-built it. And yes, it’s a damned crescent and if you change a few signs around, it would almost look celebratory.

They did a real bad job with that place. Meanwhile, the memorial in Norwalk CT has been torn down, am I correct ? That only lasted a while.

The whole world has gone nuts and nothing shy of an asteroid, a global war or the return of Jesus is going to set it straight.

Those words should be engraved in stone.

That place is such a dump.

In many ways,"dump" is analogous of how America is 16 years after 9/11/2001. Never forget is forgotten for the most part.

In many ways, you are totally correct. It took 14 years to rebuild from their single attack - a fact I have always been ashamed of.

And they sh!t out a new Mosque in 1/4 of that time to mark their dominance in the region.

New York City is no longer US territory. We have lost a ton of US Territory to enemy forces as of late, and I’m sick of it.

Just gimme the ROE. Right now it’s just spitting on people and keying their cars. It’s not enough.
