A Theistic Explanation for Why We Can’t Find Any Extraterrestrials
PJ Media ^ | September 9, 2017 | Edward Watson

Posted on 09/10/2017 5:05:47 AM PDT by Raymond Pamintuan

The very serious problems of abiogenesis and technological intelligence and the mathematical odds against finding intelligent extraterrestrials explain why we’ve never been able to detect extraterrestrial intelligences—and probably never will. We can all sleep soundly at night without worrying that aliens are going to come down from the sky to destroy or invade us.

This then brings us to what is usually ignored in science: God.

Since I am a Christian, this article is limited to the Christian worldview, which is centered on Jesus Christ. (Note: This section does not imply the biblical text is necessarily “true,” only that this is what it is teaching. We have the freedom to accept its teaching or not, but it does provide an internally-consistent cosmology that explains why we’ve never detected extraterrestrials.)

According to the New Testament:

1. God had his Son, Jesus, create the universe:

John 1:3 He created the universe—nothing exists that wasn’t created by him.

1 Corinthians 8:6 To us, there’s only one God, the Father, the originator of the universe and for whom we live; and there’s one Lord Jesus Christ, the creator of the universe and creator of mankind.

Colossians 1:13-17

Wouldn’t it be funny if we detected aliens and they were humans with our DNA a thousand light years away.

What would they say then.

The universe is far smaller than scientists say it is. And the Earth is at the center of it. I am a little skeptical about flat-Earth theories. But, regardless of its shape, my Bible tells me that everything else in the universe revolves around the Earth.

Of all the ET proponents, Stanton Friedman Is about the best, though usually the shows he agrees to go on are jam packed with some of the worst tin foil hat folks. BTW..... Friedman looks a bit like some of the media representatives of what ETs look like. Hope he doesn’t take offense at that.

I understand the theological reasoning.

But I like Einstein’s reasoning a little better. We are simply too far away from each other.

Thank you for the correction. I had wrongly assumed that Watson’s words on the primacy of the New Testament would preclude the role the Book of Mormon plays in his personal religion. Deceptive at the very least. I myself am a Roman Catholic, and I NEVER try to hide or disguise that fact.

Well, I guess in a sense you could say that we are redeemed by the sacrifice of God’s Offspring

The current theory of disk accretion forming suns, planets and solar systems in “billions and billions of galaxies” may well be flawed. Planets with life may be nearly impossible in an Electric Universe that theorizes a plasma based Universe. Wherever you have ionized material (plasmas) you have magnetic fields and magnetic pinches which concentrate matter to a high degree, possibly forming suns and other bodies. Life may be so rare in the Universe that we could well be the only sentient beings in the whole enchilada. This is a far more interesting existential standpoint and puts a lot more responsibility on our shoulders. An infinite Universe to create a being in God’s image sounds like the only sort of game God could enjoy...

Interesting. Thanks for sharing.

As for your detractors.
Remember, I lot of well-meaning Christians are never weaned beyond breast milk and baby food.

I don’t think he is hiding it - his bio seems very clear that he used to be a Mormon: https://edwardkwatson.com/bio

He’s an aging curmudgeon but with mostly a good sense of humor and a razor wit. Last time we were around him, he startled my housemate by asking his name. I think he’d laugh at your assertion.

I agree with my housemate that Stanton Friedman has either drank the Kool-Aid or is knowingly in the service of the PTB regarding the critters. He says too many things that fit their agenda, scenarios etc. He spouts the party line too much. He does allow, however, that at least some of them are not likely nice.

I missed that part, I was just looking at his page of beliefs, and saw no reference to it. Thanks!

I gather you count yourself among those who have “moved beyond “ “simple” or “elementary” Christianity to the “deeper truths.” It’s called HERESY.

Silicon-based life:

First thing, Star Trek is not a good scientific source.

Second, simple chemistry dictates that life be carbon-based. Carbon is the only element which can form chains long enough to be the backbones for things like RNA and DNA.
Other elements can form chains, but not nearly long enough to do the job.

Your “hat is off” to rank heresy? You will pay the grevious price, along with those who pervert the precious Gospel of Jesus Christ.

“I have no little experience in such things, and perceive that you are gravely misled by the Evil One. Please repent immediately and return to the Faith, once and for all delivered to the saints. Your very soul hangs in the balance!”

I reply the same as Jesus. If I cast out demons, would I be doing that for satan? A house divided will fall.

Would satan cast out satan?
