The entire Florida Peninsula and points north are poised to experience Hurricane Irma after the storm hugged Cuba's northern coastline. Thousands of Floridians who evacuated the Atlantic cost to Gulf Coast areas found their safe shelter under direct threat from Hurricane Irma as the forecast shifted W Friday night and Saturday. Hurricane Irma's prolonged interaction with Cuba diminished its strength to Category 3.
Irma is forecast to increase in strength as it crosses the FL Straits. The Florida Keys experienced strong outer bands while Irma grazed the N Cuba coastline.

I think it was 290 heading, and 7 mph...
Now, it's 305 and 5 mph.
Stalling, and transitioning more northward. The forecasting for Harvey was AMAZING. The forecasting for Irma has been tougher... but, really, they've only missed this turn by around 12 hours. That's the difference between East and West coast of Florida.
The 11 pm said NW track, I think. But what happened is she first dove back toward Cuba to follow the veering westward coastline and then bounced off again. So it may have helped to give the impression that the NW direction was new path. We shall see.
She’s a monster all right. Here’s her movement over the last 5 hours:

But they do steer them, too.
The cold front is heavier, denser air that the hurricane cannot push into. It has to find a way around and will take the path of least resistance.
And that generally is in the direction of wind flow.

Couldn't say... I don't read every post here. Too many that have no clue. The NWS, at 8 pm, said 290 at 7 Mph
Now, it's 305 and 6 mph.

To clarify, I’d like to find a plotted past track, in fairly good detail, in an image of, oh, say, 1024 pixel width minimum, if possible. The last 96 hours would be fine.
