North Korea May Fire Another ICBM This Weekend, South Warns

by STELLA KIM and ALEXANDER SMITH

SEOUL, South Korea — Less than one week after North Korea appeared to carry out its sixth nuclear test, South Korea warned Thursday that its neighbor may fire an intercontinental ballistic missile this weekend.

South Korea's prime minister, Lee Nak-yon, suggested that Kim Jong Un, the North's leader, could order a launch on Saturday, the 64th anniversary of the totalitarian regime's founding.

"There is speculation that there could be an additional provocation of firing an ICBM at a normal angle on [Sept.] 9," Lee said

If this proves true, Lee's reference to the "normal angle" could dictate what happens next.

During North Korea's first successful ICBM test in May, it fired the rocket at a "lofted" angle, which meant it traveled to an immense altitude but descended a relatively short distance away.

When it tested its second ICBM last month, however, it launched the missile in a way much more consistent with an actual attack, lower and farther so it flew over Japan.

This type of "normal" trajectory could take a missile close to the U.S. Pacific territory of Guam. There was no suggestion that Guam was the target for Saturday's speculated launch, but North Korea has threatened to test-fire missiles toward the island before, and such a move would be seen as a serious escalation.

A few days ago, a news report said that their missile was seen to be transported to N. Korea's S. Western coast. Previously, missiles launched from NK's West coast flew straight down to the South. It is likely it would fly near Guam. The question is, "Would it land near Guam?"

What are we doing about it. Just averting our gaze? Preempt these basturds. Why are we allowing this? They are directly threatening the United States— clear and present danger. We are out of time.

I wonder how many MIRV 140kt armed ICBM will the North Koreans have ready to go before he launches on the US, SK and Japan. I am guessing the NK’s will need to have about 300 ICBMs with 500 warheads before they Pearl Harbor the US..

There’s no reason for it to be a World War unless Red China wants it to be.

Red China wants Taiwan, and is using North Korean insanity to leverage that eventuality.

Correction:

...but North Korea has threatened to test-fire missiles toward the island before, and such a move would be seen as a serious escalation miscalculation!

Read this article, as long as people are posting some graphics, of how NK could launch missiles over the arctic circle/North as well. http://www.macleans.ca/politics/worldpolitics/what-would-nuclear-war-with-north-korea-look-like/

Would embolden them if we miss, which could easily happen. Plus, China and Russia want us to try so they can obtain intelligence on our capabilities.

In order to make it WWIII, somebody would have to side with crazy North Korea.

Don’t see that happening. Maybe Venezuela.
