Okay, this is a joke. Putting up non-House members, "former House speaker Newt Gingrich or former Pennsylvania senator Rick Santorum" as possible speakers is absurd. Gets someone in the news but this is a joke. Both are former, one never a member of the House. DOA.
Surely there is a credible member of the Freedom Caucus to challenge Ryan?! Don't everyone rush. Maybe the deserve Ryan and deserve all getting booted in 2018.

Is the Speaker limited to being from just one species?

Butthead Ryan should just go be a democrat instead of being a secret one. He should take McCain and Linda with him.

I nominate Stephen K. Bannon. I would also be happy with Newt, but Santorum??? No way.

Give us NEWT!
The best speaker the house ever had.
Then if something were to happen to Trump and Pence at the same time NEWT would accede :-)

What about McConnell? He’ll still be obstructing conservative bills in the Senate. He doesn’t come up for re-electon until 2020.

Same ones who had, not one, but two chances to dump Boehner and lost their backbones each time before the vote for speaker?
At the rate the Pubbies are going, Pelosi will be the next speaker anyway. Dems — even as the minority — have more leadership capabilities than the Pubbies.
Both Ryan and McConnell are EPIC FAIL, but they are not so unlike Hastert and Frist-Lott. The Pubbies have no oomph for leadership roles. Even now, they are more than satisfied to let Pelosi and Schumer work with President Trump.
Too bad there isn’t an alternative party worth anything.
