The New York Daily News, a tabloid that once boasted one of the highest daily circulations in the nation,

It STILL has one of the highest daily circulations in the nation. ALL papers are down (except maybe WSJ). That said, I do remember when the New York Daily News ranked ahead of both the New York Post and Newsday.

Rank Newspaper             Owner                                        Circulation
01   New York Times      New York Times Company              2,237,601
02   Long Island Newsday Patrick Dolan and Charles Dolan         512,118
03   Los Angeles Times    tronc, Inc.                          507,395
04   New York Post      News Corp.   424,721
05   Dallas Morning News     A. H. Belo Corp.  410,587
06   Chicago Tribune   tronc, Inc.  384,962
07   Washington Post  Nash Holdings, LLC  356,768
