In a city of 7-8 million, 300K readers is nothing.

A few decades ago, the Nielsen Numbers of the top rated TV shows would have been "nothing". The fact remains that only seven newspapers in the country sell more than the New York Daily News. Actually, 300K readers is the number sold. Many newspapers are read by more than one person. Publishers will have to find a way to make the new smaller numbers work, since the glory days of 3 million in sales each day are long gone.
