A cop shot an Ohio news photographer after confusing his camera and tripod for a weapon, according to the paper.
The Clark County Sheriffs Office deputy shot New Carlisle News photog Andy Grimm in the side as he unloaded a tripod from his vehicle to snap pictures of a traffic stop around 10 p.m. Monday.
Without warning, the deputy opened fire as Grimm was setting up the tripod. The photographer said he and the deputy knew each other.

It does lend credibility to the trigger happy complaint doesn’t it?

This is what a country that raises it's young to worship authority produces.
Either that, or there is something else going on here that we don't know about.

They should have included a tripod in there, somewhere, to help this inept cop understand the difference.

So... you are saying the DEPUTY was CONFUSED and thought someone he KNEW was pulling out a RIFLE to shoot him ?
The story didn’t say the cop know he was shooting at his friend when he was pulling the trigger, just that he saw someone with what he thought was a gun.

So, even though he was a police officer, he ignored all formal training and fired without warning at someone who turned out to be his friend. The traffic stop must have been in a bad part of town.
