When my youngest was ready to go to school, over thirty years ago, I took her for her check up. Her regular doctor was out, so his senior partner saw her. I had only just heard about possible problems with pertussin vaccinations, and I said to him, “I really don’t want her to have the pertussis vaccine”. He replied, “I NEVER give the pertussis vaccine. It causes too many problems”. He had been practicing for forty years at that point, and he knew his onions. When one of my granddaughters had her first or second vaccination, my daughter happened to be looking at her that evening, when her eyes started darting back and forth rapidly. My daughter took her to the doctor, who said it was seizure activity, most likely brought on by the vaccination, and she wasn’t to have anymore. I think he was referring to the pertussis vaccine, IIRC. A decade ago, skipping a vaccination wasn’t too big a risk. But since our country has been flooded with medically unvetted immigrants, from countries who have NOT eradicated childhood diseases, they’re being seen here, now, for the first time in many decades. Vaccination proponents used to warn the public, “if you’d ever seen a case of whooping cough or diphtheria, you would NEVER think of not vaccinating your child”! At that time, it was highly unlikely we WOULD ever see one here. Not anymore. Thanks Ted! Thanks Obama! Just another part of the legacy those evil men left us.
I remember when my first born was about a year old, he got one of the usual regimen of vaccinations, and then started running a high fever and crying every time someone so much as touched him. The doctor who administered the vaccination thought he had come down with meningitis. He didn’t. It was a temporary reaction to the vaccine, and he recovered and is now a father of some five children, including his second wife’s two children from a previous marriage, whom he treats as his own.
Ironically, the Amish, at least a decade or so ago when I read the article, were suffering from outbreaks of whooping cough. The elders were considering whether to permit at least that vaccine, since whooping cough is a deadly killer that preys on the young. I don’t know what they finally decided to do.
I’d bet that TB is making a comeback in Europe, along with new strains of hygiene-related diseases, such as typhus and cholera. I only hope that Trump can build that wall fast enough.
