Why wasn't there also an escort of motorcycle cops at the front, back and either side of the presidential limousine which was way, way behind the formation of motorcycle cops at the fore?
Talk about a dangerous situation if a smarter assailant was determined to broadside the limo.

Any fool who tried to ram that vehicle with an ordinary street car would be in a world of hurt from the impact, let alone the SS. The presidential limo is built like a small tank underneath its pretty skin. It weighs about 7 tons with armor plating estimated to be 8 inches thick. And it has gigantic Goodyear tires reinforced with Kevlar run-flats. It's designed to stay intact and keep running under severe attack. In contrast, the average street car/SUV weighs in the range of 2 tons, some a little less, some a little more, and are designed to absorb impacts by crumpling. No contest.
The drainage ditch makes me wonder if they were hoping to go airborne and come down on top of or near The Beast, in a blaze of glory. Literally like a movie stunt. Then when they didn’t, they just drove on the grass and stopped.
Honestly, their brakes failed on that day AND time AND location right when POTUS was passing, not any other segment of the long motorcade?!

In this situation, what idiot would do this in a white sedan? I think the headline is wishful thinking fake news. They told police their brakes failed as they were trying to leave the adjacent parking lot. That, or they were on drugs. It's just not likely.
Correct. This was weird. I saw the lead cycle-—which possibly is way ahead to block off intersections as are some of the follow ons-—but no cycles next to the limo (not that a motorcycle could have stopped a car like that).
The limo carrying POTUS is armored and bullet proof as far as I know.
