I have to tell you, in between all the water, I saw what looked like a very nice city.
Because most of the reporters didn’t want to go down in the bad parts of town. The past 3 days, they’ve been in Katy, a suburb where the folks making three figures live. Before that, they were in Spring and The Woodlands. The Woodlands is ritzy-ritzy.
Well I hate it there, but I hate all big cities, especially since I don’t have a chauffeur. :-)
Mrs. henkster and I were in Houston three weeks ago. Our niece lives there. Most places, yes, it is a very nice city. There are many beautiful neighborhoods. Also a lot of nice restaurants. But for the heat and humidity in the summer I thought it was a place I could live.
Oh yeah, the traffic, too. It’s awful.
But other than that....
We are very sad to see all the flooding, particularly in the Bellaire neighborhood, which is very nice.
And our niece and her family have been safe, not flooded, and with power. Her husband has been out with his hunting buddy in their boat doing rescue work. Our nephew in Victoria and Mrs. henskter’s sister in Port Lavaca are OK, but have been without power all week.
It IS a very nice city.
