Imperial Japan was based upon Germany and had close ties. It’s no wonder Germany quickly declared war on America soon after Pearl Harbor.

The SWC would be more productive focusing on real Nazis, like those in the Middle East preaching blood libel.

Yes, but at least they have saved themselves from any chance of Sharia law, unlike the rest of the Western World.

While the Japanese have a very uneasy future economically, culturally they are in a very enviable position. They have NOT imported their own doom.

I would only counter that economically Japan is in the place we see the world in Children of Men. They have massive debt they incurred to cure their economic ails, and they do not have enough youth to support the elderly as it ages. A Ponzi scheme that will eat its own.

And China sits back, waiting patiently for that time to come, they have very long memories.

Time will cure that problem. Japan will survive and still be Japan as long as the DO NOT IMPORT FOREIGNERS.

At this point I am so sick of English culture hating itself to death, we can use a little Japanese elitism. Say what you want about the Quebecois here in Canada, but one thing they are is PROUD of their heritage. Why is it that English peoples hate themselves so much?

No idea why western culture has developed a part of society that appears to be determined to destroy their own, but I have a theory that it is true of all societies and just more noticeable, as with everything now, due to drastically increased communication and transportation in the last 100 years.

There is a theory on generations ... can’t remember who posited it off the top of my head... but it basically goes something like revolution/disruption, recovery, growth, comfort, excess and back to revolution/disruption. Each generation is a part of the cycle. There are smaller cycles inside of larger cycles, etc

Some have been arguing using this for a few years that we’re on the downward side heading toward disruption.

Found it: Strauss and Howe Generational cycles: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Strauss–Howe_generational_theory

You misinterpret what I meant...likely my word choice.

I’m not referring to the prior to WWII Japanese mentality when I talk about Japanese cultural preference - I’m talking about todays.

The vast majority of Japanese today that I’ve met accept that the Tojo regime was tyrannical and out of control. Not all, of course there is never 100% consensus.

But they do have national pride, just as we have national pride. There is nothing wrong with that. Just as there is nothing wrong with our patriotism. Perhaps that is the word I should have used patriotic instead of superior.

I’m well aware of the Shinto philosophy on the emperor and most Japanese I have talked too think they are more inbred then the European monarchies, but as with the Europeans (Netherlands, England, Denmark, etc) they still feel they have a place. That has drastically changed compared to pre-WWII.

I’m not apologizing for us - There’s nothing to apologize for. I’m a damn proud hoosier country boy who thinks my grandma’s oyster dressing is better than anyone else can put up.

People who believe the Japan of today have the exact same mental hangups that the Japan of the 1930s have are completely out of their gourd. Comparing the two is like comparing the evening stars to the sun at noon. That doesn’t mean they don’t have pride and respect for their culture though. The two aren’t mutually exclusive.

I think I have read versions of that cycle before. I guess each new society hopes they are the exception.
