Japan: Deputy PM praises Hitler

Japanese Deputy Prime Minister Tarō Asō spoke during a Liberal-Democratic party convention in a way which seemingly praised Adolf Hitler’s policies.

“I am not doubting a politician’s motives,” Asō said. “I don’t question your motives (to be a politician). But the results are important. Hitler, who killed millions of people, was no good, even if his motives were right.”

Asō’s statement ignited the fury of Jewish organizations around the world. The Simon Wiesenthal Center in the US harshly condemned Asō, saying his words “are dangerous.” The center’s Rabbi Abraham Cooper said, “This is just the latest of a troubling list of ‘misstatements’ and are downright dangerous… When will the Japanese elite realize they have a Nazi problem?” […]

This is not the first time Asō has made such a remark. In 2008. Asō was criticized for comparing the Democratic Party’s tactics to those of the Nazis. In 2013, he recanted a comment which seemed to suggest Japanese leaders should change the constitution to be more like that of Nazi Germany. …

I think this is a “road to hell is paved with good intentions” type of statement. He could have used a better analogy, but he comes off as agreeing with unnamed policies of the nazi.

It’s a simple rule, that any politician should be able to follow:

“Never Mention Hitler.”

Is that so hard to do?

The Japanese people are one of the most racist groups on the planet. If you doubt that statement, I suggest you pay Japan a visit and see for yourself. But make sure your wife, if you have one, doesn’t mind walking behind you and being treated like chattel. They are much like the Muslims in their treatment of women.

That name remains a “Sticky Wicket”, as the Brits used to say.

If he said “Trump” instead of Hitler, the American Media would push to make him the new Emperor of Japan.

Or in the next 100 years.

The Japanese have almost zero muslim population. I spent some time there courtesy of the Uncle. Of course they are racist and that’s why the country has been a remarkable economic success. If you are a woman, would you rather try to handle your situation in Tehran or Tokyo?

But even the selection of the crime of gang rape is instructive:

it did in fact happen in Tokyo about 7 months ago and guess who were the culprits..?

either Turkish guys or Iraqi guys, thereby showing that they screw up whatever country that they manage to enter.

The Third Reich was pretty efficient as governments go. Mussolini made the trains run on time. Saddam didn’t make his national soccer team win.

Well.... your right and wrong... I was stationed there for 4+ years early 90s and my wife of 20+ years, who started as a penpal in high school, is Japanese.

Yes they are bigoted - they feel their culture is superior.... pretty much the way many US citizens feel ours is superior. In many things they are very good, in some odd, in some weird by our standards.... but our culture is the same to them: good, odd, weird.

My mother-in-law basically disowned my wife when we married.... that is until the grandkids came. Then she meekly asked if she could see the kids. Then she basically acknowledged me as head of the household (all daughters and my wife is oldest) by having me give away the youngest at her wedding.

The BS about your wife having to follow behind or being treated as chattel is incorrect in modern Japan. As with most western countries there are a small minority who are sexist and the majority are far from it. They do keep more traditional roles in the majority of the population, but it is FAR removed from 100 or even 50 years ago.

Disagree with me if you want, but I have more than enough time in country, personally and for work, to back up my claims.

Oh and as far as what the Deputy PM said - he’s a politician ... which as with nearly all politicians means he’s a dumbass.

So what does that have to do with Asou giving what amounts to more than a mere left-handed compliment to one of Islamic terror’s greatest allies of the last century?

Sorry, but there was never any kind of US superiority complex in the same way that Japan and Germany felt about their cultures. Both of them felt destined to take over the world, and both treated their leaders as god-kings, Japan openly so due to State Shinto claiming that Hirohito and his progeny are descendants of the sun goddess Amaterasu.

With all due respect, you are starting to go down the same road as Obama when he stated things about the USA being too big for its own good and went on that infamous “apology tour”. There is no comparison between the USA and Japan on the score of cultural complexes.
