Ping to “most-read” WaPo Op-Ed speculating that Trump could be impeached for pardoning Sheriff Joe!

From #3: The left is for killing their enemies. Never doubt that. Its just under the surface.

From #4: Not to mention there is a YUGE dementocrat precedence for not upholding criminal contempt of court decisions.

Thanks, Seizethecarp.

The funny thing is other idiot leftists will think this is legitimate and pin their fantasies on this. Like they have so many other false narratives.

Obama proved that many lies can be sold to leftist fools. I shake my head at the nonsense they swallow. It’s truly a sight to behold.

The pardoning power derives from the king and its absolute. The President can pardon any one and they don’t have to serve their sentence to be eligible.

This is a flimsy argument for impeachment. Besides, its done.

pardons are granted for two reasons: either to provide mercy or correct a miscarriage of justice, in an individual case; or on more general grounds based on public policy.

Which one of these applies to the Marc Rich pardon?

Wasn’t Benito Obama’s interference in the judicial process regarding Eric Holder’s perjury and contempt of Congress an impeachable offense? Yet not a word from the #Fakenews media or the ruling elites in DC...

Andrew Rudalevige might want to ask some of his lawyer friends about acts of sedition, in particular the conspiracy aspect of sedition.

U.S. Code › Title 18 › Part I › Chapter 115 › § 2384 18 U.S. Code § 2384 - Seditious conspiracy US Code

If two or more persons in any State or Territory, or in any place subject to the jurisdiction of the United States, conspire to overthrow, put down, or to destroy by force the Government of the United States, or to levy war against them, or to oppose by force the authority thereof, or by force to prevent, hinder, or delay the execution of any law of the United States, or by force to seize, take, or possess any property of the United States contrary to the authority thereof, they shall each be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than twenty years, or both. (June 25, 1948, ch. 645, 62 Stat. 808; July 24, 1956, ch. 678, ;1, 70 Stat. 623; Pub. L. 103–322, title XXXIII,;330016(1)(N), Sept. 13, 1994, 108 Stat. 2148.)

...that such a pardon [of Arpaio] would represent an “assault on the federal judiciary...

YES! That is exactly what I wanted it to be. I want all judges put on notice: stick to the law and do NOT try to re-interpret it to fit your political predilections.

There is nothing in the Constitution about the reason for a presidential pardon. So the President can pardon anyone for any crime for any reason or no reason at all. This was not an impeachable offense.

“may find out that something can be both legal and, simultaneously, an impeachable offense.

This is a controversial legal theory on the meaning of "high crimes and misdemeanors" according to this article by the Heritage foundation on grounds of impeachment

However even granting this theory, the only kind of non-criminal act would have to be a serious problem for the nation, and not just something that Left-wingers decide to whine about.

It's cute that speedbag thinks that there would be "rule of law" if he and his ilk attempt to impeach President Trump.

There would be "rule of the rope and nail-studded baseball bat"...

AFAIK, this is the first pardon by DJT. He pardoned a man who looked out for the best interests of his nation. He wasn’t imprisoned by a jury of his peers, but rather a social justice warrior impersonating a judge.

OTOH, Clinton and Bammy released drug dealers, traitors, and democrats convicted of embezzlement and illegal donations to democrat causes.

Big dif.

Let me guess.

It didn't happen on his last day in office?
