Trump gives the Pentagon six months to kick THOUSANDS of transgender service people out of the military if they are deemed 'non-deployable'.
A month after he announced a ban on transgender people serving in the military via Twitter, Donald Trump has issued a memo on how the decision is to be implemented.
The two-and-a-half-page note says Defense Secretary Jim Mattis must consider a service member's 'deployability' when deciding whether to eject them from the military.
That means that if they are unable to serve in a war zone, take part in training or serve on a ship for months, they must go, the Wall Street Journal reported.
It has not been spelled out exactly how the criteria will be assessed, however the Trump administration seems to be implying that it does not believe transgender service people are deployable.
The policy gives the Pentagon six months to oust 'non-deployable' transgender service members, bans new transgender hires and orders the Pentagon to stop paying for trans service members' medical treatments.

It takes about that much time to medically discharge a person.
From what I’ve read, they require access to hormones and other drugs on a pretty constant basis. Drugs that might not be accessible in a war situation. As one noted, diabetics are not allowed in the military for the same reason. So the ‘deployable’ bit might be a way to deflect discrimination lawsuits. Anyone who cannot be deployed can’t serve.

True, but then the generals own the consequences. Performance matters, and ongoing maintenance of genital mutilation is no longer a valid excuse.
Key word? More like a federal personnel policy weasel word like “children” or “essential”.
If the “essential/non-essential” federal employee dichotomy we see when the government shuts down was used to attrite or RIF (reduction in force) the federal work force (furlough: permanent), I suspect every “non-essential” employee would quickly be re-classified as “essential”.
Same thing here. Any member of our armed forces who has admitted `gender dysphoria’ (”Uh, I’m a `Pat’”), instead of giving them six months to lobby for deployable status, why not just give all of them a short grace period to make their plans, then show them the door?
We’ll see what happens.
If anyone is “nondep[loyable” are they in the service for any reason other than to get bennies? Kick out all “nondeployables”.
