....and the Chinese are NOT responsible for hacking into US Navy navigational systems?.....sure! Just a freak series of accidents......sure!
Put aside the fantasy; let's deal with the reality of ship captains and OOD’s who are playing chicken with craft that are slow moving and non-maneuverable. We're getting hit by concrete walls which the warship had no business being within a half mile of.
Why didn't they save it until wartime then? Also, did the Chinese hack into the eyeballs and binoculars of the watch - so they can't see 600 ft long vessels lit up like Christmas trees?
Even if there was hacking, the lookouts should have seen the lights of the ships from five to ten miles away and given proper bearings to the office of the deck.
That’s why you have watch standers on the bridge! The actually are supposed to watch out for other vessels.
Word from a Surface Warfare Officer today who's been in this area is that it's definitely possible it was an accident.
From the IT side of things, if the Chinese have some cool cyber weapon to hack our ships' nav systems, they're not going to waste it on some individual ship during peacetime.
