LAS VEGAS (AP) - A federal jury in Las Vegas has refused to convict four accused gunmen in a 2014 standoff with federal authorities near the Nevada ranch of anti-government figure Cliven Bundy.

In a verdict that stunned Bundy supporters, the jury on Tuesday acquitted Ricky Lovelien and Steven Stewart of all 10 charges against them.

!!!TRIGGER WARNING!!! The following post should not be read by snowflakes and sunny-day patriots.

The bigger picture is that the Bundy's were far from the only ranchers steamrolled by the FedGov. A long established pattern of abuse and theft preceded the "Bundy Standoff."

FEDS SEIZE FAMILY’S RANCH-Property owners fight government ‘land grab’!!!

“Whether and to what degree the feds were armed doesn’t really change the question of whether the Bundys should have been armed in this case.”

It goes directly to the heart of the matter. If they showed up in normal clothes, unarmed, and knocked on the door...they would get one response.
Show up dressed and armed like you are in Afghanistan, you get another response...AND often SHOULD.

The BLM cops provoked this with an aggressive show of force.
LE has a responsibility not to escalate without good cause. BLM played Army, and they got the expected response.

“”When governments fear the people, there is liberty. When the people fear the government, there is tyranny.”

The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government.

Really? If an armed police officer knocks on your door do you grab your gun and stuff it in your belt before opening the door?

I know when I get pulled over by an (armed) officer, I don't rack my slide and hold my .45 at low ready in response.

Yes, the feds overdid it. No question. But they came expecting armed resistance, so it only justified the up-armoring in their minds. The Bundys proved them right!

They didn’t steal cattle, but I wonder about the stolen truck they were caught in that had a bunch of stolen items from the govt. offices that they ransacked. That’s the kind of stuff I don’t like. I get having a gripe with a govt. that treats you like some subject to be ruled but putting gun to the head of a working-level joe (he’s not the boss, he doesn’t make policy), ransacking offices that I paid for, stealing vehicles that I paid for, and putting stolen stuff in the stolen vehicle that I paid for, I do have a problem with that.

But really, we in the USA don't have a clue what real tyranny feels like.

Just ask the 100+ ranchers that were driven out of business by this government operation. Only the Bundy's had the stamina to hold out. If you knew what you were talking about, you would know that it was initially done to protect a tortoise that ironically can't survive without cow sh@t.

Is there something you fear, maybe like losing your job if Americans were free from tyranny?

"Not having a direct involvement in law enforcement."

I don't even know why we have federal law enforcement agencies. If we must have and FBI, ATF and similar agencies to be effective, they should be investigative only.

I would think fees could be recouped in a civil trial.

I repeat, we have no clue what tyranny is. Go visit North Korea and then we'll talk.

Yes, the Obama government was monstrous. Yes, it was unjust. But I think it does disservice to those who have lived and do live under real tyrants to call anything we endure in the USA "tyranny".

The government was the cattle rustlers. They slaughtered some of them for no reason.

Wrong standoff. This case was in Nevada not Oregon.

Perhaps you should read more carefully. They failed to pay grazing fees. There was no rustling.

Oh Yes there was....Perhaps you should read more carefully. Fed Gov rustled and attempted to hide their handiwork.

The way things like North Korea happen is when people wait for it to get all the way to that point. Resisting the first hiccups of oppression is a duty, and it is precisely how we never get to experience that.

LE has gone too far since 9/11 and does need reigning in.

Yeah, what they did wasn't rustling. We would probably all like it to be, but it just isn't.

I agree completely, and it's been since way before 9/11. I point to Daryl Gates and the "pro-active" policing trend. (That translates to "punish people BEFORE they break the law!")

I tend to be moderately libertarian in my views on LE.
