I agree - here in NY State, I get calls from the PBA and State Troopers Assoc. all the time. I tell them - I respect your work, but my small business is struggling under Fed.gov regulations and health care cost goes up several thousand $$ every year, so do taxes. I have no pension and whatever I manage to save gets 0% interest because the Fed is busy buying up government debt to keep government afloat.
Meanwhile, you guys have pay, healthcare, pension, vacation - everything guaranteed.
Their telemarketers have usually hung up on my by that point....
” I get calls from the PBA and State Troopers Assoc. “
Most likely the calls are from a commercial fundraising organization that gives 5% to the troopers,
These calls are usually from phonies.Next time ask them what PBA they represent? Chances are they'll hang up.
Many years ago I got a call from someone who said he was from some Police Association. He was looking for donations. It was a time when I was scrimping but I figured it was a good cause so I said okay, I’ll donate.
The man asked me what I wanted to donate - $50, $75, etc. I was shocked and replied, “I couldn’t do that. I was thinking about $5 or $10 dollars.” That was a lot for me at the time.
The guy hung up! LOL I am still laughing about it.
How often does your job put your health and your life in jeopardy? That justifies a generous pension and good health benefits, don’t you think?
