Like many recreational activities it is about getting out, getting moving, and having fun. Just because you don’t play to win does not mean other people don’t. Like golf it is mostly about beating your own handicap.
But you can play for money too. Join a league and see how well you do. There are tourneys, cash prizes... There are even professional players.
Your statement is like going to a bowling alley with people that suck and then declaring that no one plays it competitively. Go try it with people that are good sometime.

Because I too think that we the taxpayers have a big stake in these teams...
but I think so much of it is fixed by the sport elites....and they will justify it to by saying its "their" league...
between fack news and fake sports, its hard to believe anything is really true and real...
they own their own leagues, but they've squeezed all the money for it from the taxpayers, or most of it...hate to see what "their" leagues would look like if they operated without a gigantic amount of public money..
but sadly, they get away with it....
we here in this household have never ever supported public funding for stadiums, but the stupid sheeple do...
