ELEVEN Cleveland Browns kneel during the National Anthem

CLEVELAND -- Eleven Cleveland Browns players knelt in a circle during the national anthem prior to Monday's preseason game against the New York Giants.

While the group knelt behind the Cleveland bench in front of the Gatorade buckets, several other players stood nearby and put their hands on a kneeling teammate's shoulder in support.

Those who took a knee were tight end Seth DeValve, running backs Duke Johnson Jr. and Terrence Magee, safeties Jabrill Peppers and Calvin Pryor, cornerback Jamar Taylor, receivers Kenny Britt and Ricardo Louis, linebackers Chris Kirksey and Jamie Collins, and running back Isaiah Crowell (who was not in uniform).

I only watched the superbowl last year. I guess I can make it two years in a row like that.

If one of Browns didn't do anything when one of their players posted this (above)...they're not going to do anything.

OMG! What a horrible, horrible picture. They deserve what they get. Which I hope is miserable ratings, falling attendance, cancelled season tickets, and the resulting lack of revenue to be able to afford the multi-million dollar salaries of these pampered babies.

Yesterday some guy on foot took some shots at a Chicago policeman who was on a routine traffic stop. He was just passing by; they were having no interaction. If I were a cop I would want not to police in bad areas. So these morons are putting their neighbors' lives at risk.

Some people just don’t want to step out of their comfort zones to defend the country

And some people call them pussies

OLs have to be big, heavy, fast AND very smart. That’s a very difficult combination to find.

Aside from blue chip QBs, the top draft picks are offensive linemen.

And the league just gave Goodell a five year extension.

And UNGRATEFUL ... Keep firmly in mind they are ingrates ... ungrateful for everything America has given this privileged bunch of pampered b@stards! "Effem all!" is my new NFL slogan.

***Technically, the NFL is a non-profit due to a special exception from Congress in the 1960s.***

...just like baseball...?

***A "non-profit" although the league makes billions of dollars of profit each year***

And with soccer pushing mightily for a seat at the games, you would think NFL would take notice... NAW! The NFL could require that the Anthem be played prior to the players emerging from the locker room... but apparently the NFL thinks they don't need anyone to watch their games. SIGH I started losing interest in the NFL when they decided that Rush Limbaugh was not fit to be an owner in the National Thug League... just as I started losing interest in ESPN when they made the same decision... NUTS to them both!

The reason soccer games end up in riots fairly often is due to fans sitting three hours for a game that ends up with a score of 0-0 -- or 1-0 after the second overtime... same with hockey. How long until the NFL suffers the same reaction?

“What is it about the OL role that requires special smarts?”

complex run-blocking schemes - e.g., if you pay attention to line play, you’ll see numerous schemes where OLs from one side pull to the other; screen pass schemes; trap and delay running plays; play action pass schemes, and pass blocking where they have to pick up different defensive blitzing schemes - and ALL of this has to be on the same page as what the QB has called. DLs mostly have to just figure out run or pass.

OLs are the unsung heroes of football - without them doing their jobs WELL all the time, the offense can never get going. A QB can have all the talent in the world, but if he doesn’t get a couple of seconds to do his thing and instead gets crushed under a mountain of defense men, then it’s all she wrote.

the great book, “The Blind Side”, by Michael Lewis, which is a biography of OL Micheal Orr, opens with a good example of what happens to a QB without a good O-Line.

I am a life long Browns Fan, but unless the team management disavows and fines the players I will not watch the Browns or NFL, go to any games or buy their crap!

As far as I can concerned the team is dead to me, they can move to London.

BOYCOTT THE NFL, let them get summer jobs like they use to have too!

Well, I never thought it would happen. I’ve been a loyal Cleveland Browns fan for close to 50 years. All the bad owners, bad coaches, bad plays, etc. and I still was a rabid fan. But you finally broke me. As a proud disabled Vietnam veteran, you disgust me and I will never watch or go to another game. If I need a football fix I can watch the Labrae HS Vikings, John Carroll Univ., and the OSU Buckeyes. If anybody reading this wants my Browns gear let me know.
