Feds Allege California Marines Involved in $67M Health Fraud

Aug. 19, 2017

SAN DIEGO (AP) — Federal authorities say Southern California Marines were recruited for a scheme that bilked the government's military health insurance provider out of $67 million.

The San Diego Union-Tribune (http://bit.ly/2v1kixi) says a complaint was filed Thursday in San Diego as part of a civil asset forfeiture case. Authorities are trying to seize the property of a Tennessee couple.

Investigators say Marines were recruited at up to $300 a month for a so-called medical study that involved phone consultations with a doctor's office in Cleveland, Tennessee, owned by Jimmy and Ashley Collins.

The Marines were prescribed costly compound drugs.

A pharmacy in Bountiful, Utah, filled thousands of prescriptions and billed them to the insurer, TRICARE.

The entire government healthcare system, including Medicare, Medicaid and Obamacare is rife with fraud. The guilty doctors, many of them foreign, are stealing hundreds of millions of taxpayers’ dollars. Do you ever hear of anyone going to jail for 5 years for stealing from the government? But some poor schlep who robs a liquor store of $200 goes to the slammer for at least 10.

Yep, I have always said that.

White collar crime is where the real money is and the rare sentence of incarceration time is spent in one of the Federal Country Clubs.

Especially politicians.

All true, but the case against Dr. Solomon Melgen (and by extension his “buddy” Senator Bob Menendez of NJ) is a biggie. Hopefully this is going to be a two-fer.

We can deal with white collar crime later. The priority now for all law enforcement should be to clean up street crime and these wretched antifa type scum.

Just put them in the same cells as the hardened criminals. The prospects of anal sex will fix a lot of potential problems.

Huh? I thought most medical studies gave the drugs free of any charge (to the individual or their insurance) since it's a study, not a simple medical prescription. Providing insurance billing information for a medical study would make me at least question a bit about what is going on. Or, the study providers may take to your insurance to make an exception and have them help cover the cost, especially if it's for a specific medical issue the individual has.

Maybe the Doctors are giving our men and women the same drugs I read about that the Suicide Bombers are given in the Middle East. Maybe that is whats got the Lefties going Nuts. I always have been leary of drugs that make you want to do the Dutch Act. Theres a lot of them being perscribed.

Any medical study should provide plenty of details about length of time involved, the identity of the drugs prescribed, the conditions being treated, etc. as well as the outcome. What impact did this study have on the suicide rate of our Marines? Under Obama -
