Slavery goes back to the beginning. Yes, slaves came to America later. Indentured servants also came here as Europe had been in a 30 year war which left people poor, hungry, etc.
American Indian tribes took slaves, too.
Why aren’t more people looking into and stopping CURRENT slavery?

I agree and for many Southerners who were slave owners, the slaves were actually collateral for debts and so even if they wanted to free their slaves they were not able to. Slaves were considered property and thus were tied to the mortgages on the plantations.Southern plantation owners were often in deep debt based on their extravagant lifestyles as outlined by Thomas Sowell in Black Rednecks and White Liberals.
More than that will it state that had they not been sold as slaves they would have remained slaves in the African countries or killed!!!

IF those cotton plantations had NOT existed & had NOT been profitable, those fabric mills in New England would not have existed, either, and there would have not been American cloth to use for clothing in the new country.
