I have noticed quite a bit of confusion about that term “white nationalist.”. There are white people who are nationalists and, as you point out, there is not necessarily any problem with that. Then there are white people who want to have a whites-only nation. These are the Stormfront, KKK, and neo-Nazi white nationalists. They have tried to hitch their wagons to Trump’s MAGA nationalism. I think they are opportunists who are trying to legitimize a cause that, under normal circumstances, appeals only to sociopaths and weirdos. There Is nothing in common between Trump’s cause and theirs, no valid reason for confusion, but I do think it is in the interest of the left, the media, and Never Trumpers, to conflate the two.
