Jerry Lewis, the rubber-faced, squeaky-voiced comedy legend who starred in movies and musicals and also was known for his unflagging work on behalf of the Muscular Dystrophy Association, died on Sunday, his publicist confirmed. He was 91 years old.
Lewis' publicist confirmed the news to The Associated Press. The Las Vegas Review-Journal columnist John Katsilometes first reported Lewis' death.

He didn’t want “The Day The Clown Cried” because he thought it was awful. I got the impression that it was a project where his heart was in the right place, but the execution of the story just didn’t work and it was just too maudlin and disturbing. It seems like it was better handled with similar subject matter in Roberto Benigni’s “Life Is Beautiful.”
Jerry Lewis was a f***king GREAT AMERICAN, period.
