A warning from George Orwell on the ‘monument wars’
NY Post ^ | August 16, 2017 | Seth Lipsky

Posted on 08/16/2017 11:14:51 PM PDT by Oshkalaboomboom

In the new Civil War, I’m with George — as in George Washington. It’s one thing to start dismantling monuments of Civil War generals. It would be another to go after the most famous founding father.

Washington’s name was raised Tuesday by President Trump. He wheeled on reporters and tried — yet again — to suggest an equivalence between the alt-right and alt-left at Charlottesville. Trump was getting his head handed to him when he noted that there were people there “to protest the taking down of, to them, a very, very important statue.”

The president was referring to Robert E. Lee, hero of the Confederacy. Charlottesville had long since made its decision to remove its statue of Lee. It acted through its city council, the democratic way.

On Monday, though, protesters in Durham, N.C., took matters into their own hands. They slung a rope around the neck of the statue of a Confederate soldier and pulled it down.

“So will George Washington now lose his status?” the president asked on Tuesday. “Are we going to take down statues to George Washington? How about Thomas Jefferson?”

It’s a good question — no doubt the question for many Americans. It’s not that the alt-left has already got its noose around statues of Washington, but the leftist-outrage industry does move fast.

Even in New York.

Mayor de Blasio tweeted Wednesday, “New York City will conduct a 90-day review of all symbols of hate on city property.”

Protesters have already swarmed the statue of Teddy Roosevelt at the Museum of Natural History. They reckon it’s a symbol of white supremacy.

Probably books next. It usually follows a pattern. Expect publishers to stop publishing GWTW, Huckleberry Finn, To Kill a Mockingbird, Faulkner, etc. and then libraries to remove, if they haven’t done that already.

Here’s a BBC Documentary on George Orwell.

https://youtu.be/s6txpumkY5I

Since there were few if any photos much less film BBC had an actor portraying Orwell reading his words. Very interesting. Eric Blair clearly states he was against all forms of totalitarian regimes, his position informed by his experiences during the Spanish Civil war.

Trump should be advised to reclaim “language” and avoid using the terms of the progs. Lump cray cray right with cray cray left as both being totalitarians.

Lots and lots of poor Brahmins, you know. That is the highest caste but it means priest, mostly. If you look at the magnificent films The Apu Trilogy you will see how many, if not most, Brahmins really live. What class they are here in the US is hard to tell - some are doctors where I am or shop keepers. They’re OK but cheapest people in the world and always looking to save a buck...endlessly, it seems.

You don’t get it. This has always been the end game of the commies. That’s what these groups are....communists. They can call themselves whatever name they want but they are communists through and through

Affirmative action dooms blacks in education and the workplace by insisting on inserting them above their capabilities; the ones who would fit in community college are pushed into state schools, while those qualified for state schools are shoehorned into the Ivy League - and all end up trailing their peers. The workplace is no different; they are constantly pushed into positions beyond their abilities, and consequently can’t succeed without a non-token doing the actual work.

This results in a mass inferiority complex and racial outrage, while if they had gone into their appropriate levels in school and work they could prosper.

To the author, they are not alt-righ, they are the alt-left. Use that term to describe them.

If our nation’s founding fathers are determined in the court of public opinion to be just evil slaveowners, then it will be much easier for the leftists to undermine what little is left of the Constitution and the other founding documents created by those great men.
It is a short step to a rewritten Constitution similar to those phonebook-sized atrocities cooked up in totalitarian dictatorships around the world.

What about the muslim dominance in the early slave trade that broght the african slaves to north america?

The eugenics evil as spread by Charles Davenport went far and wide in America. It had great appeal to such people as Margaret Sanger.

And Winston Churchill.

"The communists have even stolen his book. They make it to be right wing fascism that he was warning about..."

They do so in spite of the fact that the name of the Party ruling that dystopia was called "INGSOC" (newspeak for English Socialism).

The Left's use of Orwellian doublespeak to claim the opposite only further confirms that Orwell's warning is about them

Maybe we should rename Carnegie Hall after that great patron of the arts, Tupac Shakur.

Carnegie believed in all sorts of strange things back in time that might make him a tad unpopular today.

“The Mortal Storm” (1940)

Good movie. First seen after BO’B was elected, before his inauguration.

Visions of war torn Germany envisioned out the bedroom window the day after election. Destruction and annihilation. Horrifying!

...”How long before they deem Conservatives to be evil and ban everything they try to honor or publish? Google already manipulates searches away from conservative sites. Facebook and Twitter ban conservatives. Trump was elected to drain the swamp but now it’s looking like the swamp is using Trump as the excuse to ban and destroy even more.”...

It has been about a year ago since a friend of mine who has a FB account told me that he suspected that his posts advocating conservative, Christian views were being censored. He did a little investigation himself via other modes of communication with his friends and found that only about 4 of them received his posts. He has 100s of friends. I decided that day to disable my FB account because I knew that this kind of thing coming from a power that big was dangerous. It is really nice to be able to communicate with your friends so easily but you might be destroying your country in the process. All should think about that. Today I have heard conversation about google, FB and Twitter and how all of them are now powerful and manipulative. Something needs to be done about that kind of power which resides outside of government. George Orwell said, “In an age of universal deceit, telling the truth is a revolutionary act.” Are we too Orwellian to turn back this dangerous tide?

People think that Stonewall was a bar that made its money from selling drinks to patrons.

that’s wrong:

it was actually a Bottle Club because the permit fee was much lower and regulatory requirements were much much less rigorous, something about the requirement for multiple exits and whether or not you have to have running water and all the sinks, xcetera.

Some bars have problem customers, right?

Stonewall was a mafia biz and did sometimes have problem customers who were upper-income and were known to be living in the closet.

So they killed two birds with one stone by extorting them; the misbehaving gentleman would have to pay in order to have their unusual hobby kept secret.

this served as another form of income and minimized the number of regular patrons who posed chronic problems (fighting, constantly picking up on people not interested in them, lateness in paying bar tab).

But did all such men pay up immediately..?

No, it generated a lot of anger and in this case it generated an actual riot.

I would believe that the customer base of the bar did happen to yearn for more personal freedoms. I would believe that cops sometimes hassled them.

But the Stonewall Riot had nothing to do with “I want to be free..!” and everything to do with, “I don’t want to pay and I’m pissed as hell!”

Years ago the American spectator featured a very in-depth examination of the fake history and an expose.

It was fantastic, a long article maybe 10 or so pages, really good.

...""Every record has been destroyed or falsified, every book rewritten, every picture has been repainted, every statue and street building has been renamed, every date has been altered. And the process is continuing day by day and minute by minute. History has stopped. Nothing exists except an endless present in which the Party is always right.” ― George Orwell, 1984"... He also wrote: "The further a society drifts from the truth, the more they will hate those who speak it." "In an age of universal deceit, telling the truth is a revolutionary act." It is beginning to look like Orwell was prophetic.

Dead men can't become members of BLM.

That's why no one complains about the Arabic slave trade: most of their slaves were worked to death.

You’re still laboring under the false impression that segregation was just a southern thing and that eugenics was just a southern thing. In that you’re quite mistaken. Perhaps it makes you feel better to put it all off on some “other” somewhere else, and to pretend that Republicans weren’t the progressive party in that era. Eugenics was regarded as progressive at that time, so as neat and tied up in a pretty little bow for Republicans outside of the south as your story is, it’s not at all reflective of what actually occurred.
