On President’s Condemning Racial Violence, Some Perspective
www.TrevorGrantThomas.com ^ | 8/14/2017 | Trevor Thomas

On the protest in Charlottesville this past weekend, Pajama Media’s Roger Simon, a self-described “Jewish fella,” put it well:

"[T]he types who surfaced in Charlottesville on Saturday are certainly human beings of the most repellent and disgusting sort, murderous too—pretty much violent, evil sociopaths. I wouldn’t mind if they were all rounded up, put in a space ship, and sent on a one-way trip to Alpha Centauri."

... On President Trump’s condemnation of the violence in Charlottesville, Thomas Lifson at American Thinker offers some more perspective:

"[The] critics [of President Trump’s condemnation] were going to slam the president no matter what he said or did…

"I hope and expect the president will have more to say, and while condemning Nazis, remain even-handed. I condemn everyone that seeks to oppress others on the basis of race, no matter which race is being demonized."

I, too, hope that President Trump has more to say on this matter, but then again, U.S. Presidents have often disappointed when it comes to matters involving the hate-filled violence and rhetoric of a small number of their supporters. Take the last President, for example. Whether Ferguson, Missouri (more than once), Baltimore, St. Paul, Baton Rouge, Dallas, Oakland, and so on, time and again, President Obama refused to condemn the violent racists of Black Lives Matter (BLM). On the contrary, Obama and the Democrat Party regularly encouraged the perverse cause of BLM and gave them political cover.

The short and sweet of it is, Pres. Trump didn’t have to single out the White Supremacists because he condemned ALL OF THE VIOLENCE FROM BOTH SIDES THAT WERE THERE THAT DAY.
Unlike Clinton crony, who just happens to be under investigation, Gov. McAwful who only condemned the WS so emboldening the BLM and Antifa vigilantes.

The President made a statement akin to “all lives matter” which according to some nutcases, is a no-no.
I support the PRESIDENT and support his statement condemning violence from ALL SIDES.

And remember kiddos: Every time there was a terrorist attack by a muslim, Obama and the Democrats condemned violence ON ALL SIDES.

There appears to be violence all around Saturday, but agree that explicitly putting down KKK, neo-Nazis, and these folks wrapping themselves in the confederate flag is important. Trump’s already on record against BLM and antifa violence. He needs to avoid getting hung up on which group he is criticizing the most or more recent. And he needs to put a marker down about the police standing down here, if they did, and elsewhere, like Berkeley and San Jose. This only adds to the problem. It is a mess all around and Trump needs to be clear, one voice, and dump this on Sessions and FBI to strongly address with zero tolerance all around.

Obama and the Democrats did the same thing every time a muslim committed a terrorist attack...they would NEVER call the muslims out by name, so President Trump is simply keeping White House tradition.

CBS and ABC this morning lead with, “President Failed to address White Nationalism”...and, showed VP Pence during this headline...

They then, are not even recognizing Trump as president now...not so subtle messaging.

President Trump, it is brass knuckle time. Know your enemy.

Just about everyone here attacks the “virtue signaling” that goes on every day on the left, but isn’t that exactly what many on the right are doing right now with their name calling and smug superiority condemning the Unite the Right people?

When was the last time, or even the first time that the left ever condemned or disowned anyone on their side of the fence? I’ve never heard anyone on the left so much as utter a single word of condemnation of the repugnant, violence inspiring AntiFa or Black Lies Matter. The left NEVER apologizes, and never split their ranks, but the first even hint of trouble, the right tears itself apart to curry favor with the media.

The GOP seems to think if they just keep their gloves on and play by Marquis of Queensbury the Rats will put their knives away. Sorry, it don’t work that way.

No surprise from “Gov. McAwful.” And yes, the President was correct to condemn the violence from “all sides.”

"explicitly putting down KKK, neo-Nazis, and these folks wrapping themselves in the confederate flag is important" Pretty much my sentiments as well. Give the MSM as little ammunition as possible.

thanks....I defy anyone to find a Press Conference after a terror attack when the Dems didn’t include Conservative Christians in their admonition.

The media covered up the presence of Communist hate groups at so-called anti-war rallies (where you could find rhetoric FOR Palestinian terrorism against Jews, including the use of suicide bombers ‘who use the only weapons they have, their bodies - sob sob, cry cry’).

Communists in the “recount” protests.
Communists in the “Occupy” protests.

Antisemitism in the homofascist supremacist parades.

How many candidates does Neonazi Party USA get on the ballots from coast to coast? Communist Party USA, International Green Party, Socialist Party, Workers World Party, Socialist Workers Party, et al DO get candidates on the ballots and do endorse people (like Obama for President) and they still find time to say that North Korea is right to have nukes and the Americans are big meanies.

Here is what President Trump should say:

"Forty years ago, a small, hateful group of neo-Nazis went to court to affirm their right to march through Skokie, Illinois.

This hate group's choice of Skokie for their march was a terrible affront to the community of Skokie, which was home to many Holocaust survivors.

But the march was held peacefully, and the Nazis went home. Counter-protesters did not hurl rocks or beat the marchers with bats. Our cherished principle of free speech was upheld. And then everyone went home.

That is the way things are supposed to work in America: We honor our fellow citizens' right to free speech, no matter how hateful we find their speech, as long as their expression is non-violent.

The Skokie experience resonates today as a model of America responding at its best. Let all extremist groups hear my words: No group has a right to commit violence against another, no matter how much we might disagree with one another."

I think it's important that we condemn in the strongest possible way this violence in Charlottesville w/o qualification or nuance.

Further, we should recognize who is responsible; that is the white supremecists and others on the alt-right that would attach themselves to Trump. They are racists pure and simple.

Nor should we say well, the other side does it too. NO. It doesn't matter what the other side does, these actions and arguments should have no place in the conservative movement, none.

Rounded them ALL UP, no matter what race, put them in a space ship, and “space them” over the farthest plant in the Galaxy.

Well yeah, he did. Condemning Nazis and the Klan are pretty much a knee-jerk reaction for any leader. President Trump could have condemned the Klan and white supremacists by name and still included the left wing by saying something like "We also condemn those who would meet hatred with hatred and violence with violence" and come off being fair and balanced.
