Climate change has had a significant impact on the timing of river floods across Europe over the past 50 years, according to a new study.
In some regions, such as southern England, floods are now occurring 15 days earlier than they did half a century ago.
But the changes aren't uniform, with rivers around the North Sea seeing floods delayed by around eight days.
The study has been published in the journal Science.
Researchers have long predicted that a warming world would have direct impacts on these events but until now the evidence has been hard to establish.
Prof Blöschitzel says that this study shows clear evidence of the impact of human-induced climate change in many regions - but there are still some areas of uncertainty.
"Where the human imprint is obvious is in the northeast of Europe. It is quite a direct link, with a warming climate and earlier snow melt," he said.

Turn up the scare machine as nothing else seems to be working.
Was the timing of floods in Europe always the same until recently? That would be quite remarkable.
When did the weather become a static event?
This level of logic certainly allows the flat earth society to have equal footing.
From where I stand, the earth looks flat.
Climate change...perhaps. But man-caused? The question they can’t answer, which is why they no longer even try.
Slow news day....take the heat off of Mueller and the worthless pup, McConnell.

Any statement that has “climate change” in it and/or any person uttering the terms in other than a derisive manner is to be instantly discredited and ignored.

Instead of calling these kooks Climate Scientists, we should call them, Climate Scientologists.

bar sin·is·ter, please show us your tagline!:
The age of the Earth is estimated at a little over 4.5 billion years. Working this out was a difficult problem to solve. For most of human history, the basic facts about the planet were unknown.
So the FIFTEEN days is really significant!!!!!!
LMAO!!!
I saw that yesterday and it is perfect for some pundits to pick up to start mocking them, even if it is the absolute truth.
So, Europe, huh?
So, what happened to all that ice? Too many cows farting?
bar sin·is·ter nailed them with his reply!
He would be proud of the current AGW crowd.
Seems like a classic case of “correlation doesn’t prove causation”. This is statistical cherry picking at its best. Just pick an weather event (flood, hurricane, etc.) and then limit the time range of the study to show that this “doesn’t happen” in other places at other times, so, viola!, it must be because of man-made climate change.
