Oregon State University will offer a spring course on fat studies in order to teach students how weight-based oppression is a social justice issue.
According to a syllabus for the course obtained by Campus Reform, students will examine body weight, shape, and size as an area of human difference subject to privilege and discrimination that intersects with other systems of oppression based on gender, race, class, age, sexual orientation, and ability.

Just what we need—another “oppressed” minority voting block.
Will Michael Moore or Rosie O’Donnell step up to be their leading advocate?
But, but, but Libs ‘fat-shame’ all the time!! The SJWs will have a tough time with this one. Christian bashing and fat-shaming are really BIG with the Leftist Millennial crowd.
Burkas and stand-up passenger planes are the solution.
Another useless course that adds to their coffers. Another union professor added to their ranks.
Well, I don’t know. I have some pounds to lose. Now that Libs have a special interest social justice victims group to speak for me, I may have to switch sides.
Can one have the intersectionality of being a ‘person of size’ and food insecure simultaneously?
It used to be the fat were the ‘haves’ and the overly skinny were the ‘have nots.’
Sorry but Darwinian law is harsh and unforgiving. Either you are an appealing procreative partner or you are not. Most social outcomes follow this biological reality.
These liberal professors will teach any course to justify that more obese types are minorities and most are on food stamps.
However, excluding that very small group, weight gain is caused by taking in more fuel than is burned. It is chemistry and physics. Just as many people have been successful at quitting smoking, drinking, or drugs, so to many people have successfully beat the weight game.
There are actually 12 Step programs for people who have struggled with their weight, and these programs offer the same rates of success.
And it goes with out saying every individual should be treated with respect whatever his or her weight. Carving out another protected group is ridiculous. Common courtesy will suffice.
So, I’m sure the person who sacrifices, sticks to a diet, wakes up early to exercise regularly is just “thin privileged” .
I think it is more of a “fatso eats too much” issue .
Fat folks should get off their couch and protest.
Perhaps hold a march and actually, march, to get some exercise.
Since I’ve lost enough weight to be under 300 lbs, I no longer feeeeel like I have the right to weigh in on this.
