In California, ‘sanctuary state’ and other immigration bills face surprising opposition
San Jose Mercury-News ^ | August 9, 2017 | By KATY MURPHY

Soon after President Donald Trump’s election, California lawmakers began rolling out legislation to fight the president’s promised crackdown on illegal immigration. They released bills to blacklist companies involved in Trump’s proposed U.S.-Mexico border wall project, protect undocumented children in schools, and bar the use of local and state police resources for federal immigration enforcement.

But after a rapid-fire start, the Legislature’s Trump resistance has slowed to a plodding pace. Both border-wall bills died — the “Resist the Wall Act” never had a committee hearing — and with just four weeks left in the Legislative session, much of the immigration-related legislation is still pending. That includes the highly publicized Senate Bill 54 — better known as the “sanctuary state” bill — which a powerful law enforcement group is fighting hard.

The California State Sheriffs’ Association is pressing lawmakers to defeat the bill by Senate Leader Kevin de León, D-Los Angeles, while urging Gov. Jerry Brown not to sign it if it passes in its current form, the group’s leaders told reporters Tuesday.

As the fate of immigration legislation comes down to the wire — and U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions ramps up pressure on so-called “sanctuary” jurisdictions, such as San Jose and Oakland, to cooperate with federal immigration agents — immigration advocates are watching closely, hoping that the proposals introduced with fanfare months ago become law.

My observation is that most of the activist legislators are led by people with hispanic surnames e.g. Senate Leader Kevin de León, D-Los Angeles

These SJW pimps are looking for votes to perpetuate the gravy train.

So Brown is the one who opposes it? But only because he wants it changed. And the only reason he wants it changed is that he doesn’t want to make himself unelectable for federal office.

The feds can flood “sanctuary cities” with ICE/CBP agents. The local governments and politicians may object, whine, cry, piss, and moan, but they can’t do a single thing about it. Unless they want to land themselves in federal prison.

CA spoke in `94. A court, as usual, ignored the vox populi and the Golden state began its death spiral:

http://www.cnn.com/ALLPOLITICS/1998/03/19/prop.187/
“In her final ruling, Pfaelzer rejected California’s attempt to regulate immigration, which she said is the federal government’s responsibility.”

I'm a first generation American who is the son of two legal immigrants. I'm totally supportive of all efforts to remove illegal aliens from our country, starting with criminals and illegal voters.

They are hearing from us.

We really need the Braceros program back in place; it worked for everyone.

Polls always show people here in CA reject all this progressive agenda shit by large numbers, but every election those pushing the progressive agenda win with 60% plus of the vote?

We have a strong Republican candidate for Governor named Travis Allen. He is on the right side of all the issues in this poll. Watch the people here reject him in big numbers.

Jerry is 79 years old. Will he run as a Democrat or as the nominee for the Crones & Geezers Party, along with Hillary (70), Biden (74), Gore (69), Bernie (75), et al.?

(note: as an official Geezer, I will vote for none of the above listed criminals)

Most likely as VP. The Dems aren’t going to nominate a white guy for President, but they might nominate one for VP. And there aren’t many to choose from.
