DOJ Releases 400-Plus Pages of Lynch-Clinton Meeting Emails – After FBI Said No Records Existed

The Department of Justice on Friday released 413 pages of emails related to a controversial private meeting between former President Bill Clinton and then-Attorney General Loretta Lynch during the FBI’s investigation into then-presidential-candidate Hillary Clinton’s Benghazi emails. The FBI said earlier such records did not exist.

This discharge of information is the result of a lawsuit filed against the DOJ by the American Council for Law and Justice (ACLJ) in November 2016.

The newly-released emails mostly include DOJ officials’ conversations with reporters, who were seeking comment on the meeting between Lynch and the former president on an airport tarmac in Phoenix, Ariz. in June 2016.

The encounter raised concerns about the impartiality of the DOJ’s investigation into the Hillary Clinton episode, and became a significant issue in the presidential campaign.

The ACLJ notes that under the leadership of then-Director James Comey the FBI had originally denied the existence of such records.

Right. But the documents they released, “they” meaning the Trump/Sessions Justice department, are so heavily redacted that they contain virtually no substantive information.

Why is the Trump/Sessions DOJ redacting documents that protect Comey, Clinton, Clinton and Lynch?

These documents were released, not at the level of AG Sessions, but at a much lower level, where the Deep State still prevails.

Once Sessions acts on this obvious subterfuge of the intent of the FOI law (if he ever does), we may get to see the actual text. But Sessions may be almost as good at slow-walking things as anyone in the Obama regime.

After all, perhaps a third of the DOJ is composed of Deep State operatives still in place, and so long as they are there and cover for each other, they may continue to ply their mischief.

You don't suppose those hirelings hail from the District of Columbia?

Bingo! In addition, the low level staff assigned to search for responsive records operate with explicit guidelines as to redactions. The operative guidance ultimately advises that "If questions arise, consult your supervisor"). The more an employee consults their supervisor..., the lower their evaluation becomes! Usually, the least essential personnel are assigned to FOIA units for obvious reasons!

Alphabet soup department acronyms don’t exist inside the beltway. It is more specific like ‘Justice’, ‘State’ and ‘Bureau’, so yes, your assertion is entirely correct. Swamp creatures central. They all know their livelihoods are dependent on the ‘Deep State’. Just like other civil servants the mindset when first hired is;
“Wonderful! Only 32 more years to retirement!”

“Why is the Trump/Sessions DOJ redacting documents that protect Comey, Clinton, Clinton and Lynch?”

I assure you, nobody Trump appointed ever saw the product produced. At most they got a terse summary of what was supplied. Somebody deep in the bowels of the FBI did the actual redaction. That person is, or thinks he is, protecting the FBI from embarrassment or culpability.

In large organizations I have seen lower level people affect the entire organization by doing what they chose to do and not what they are told to do. People at the top have no visibility and generally no knowledge about what actually happened to make events turn the way they did.

Why?

The documents are evidence for the prosecution

How dare anyone question the Federal Bureau of Insinuation&Incompetence..

Their standards are above question, yaknow.

All I want to know is was Lynch wearing a Blue dress that day?

and would J Edgar be OK with being caught dead in it on a jet tarmac?

You might ask yourself why Trump / Sessions DOJ is still holding up FOI requests from Judicial Watch.

Let's face it, by now the Trump DOJ should have a 7 nation army combing through all the records from the past 8 years, and it should not be a "behind the doors" scenario as cases get developed.

Bottom line: It's not occurring.

It's the old Potomac Two Step, once again.

As president, Trump has the right to demand to see the unredacted file to personally determine if it is redacted properly and then release it and start firing people.

He should first surround himself in the oval office with a troop of loyal marines and don’t let the receiver of his orders leave the room. Hr can have some other suspected traitors in there at the same time where they would be helpless. He must act decisively and quickly. Have a press conference immediately thereafter where he can release the documents. The truth will set us free.

We now have more evidence of perjury against Comey than we ever did against Scooter Libby and a jury put Libby in jail for 30 months and fined him $250,000

It becomes much clearer if you assume that everyone voting yea here (the Iran Deal) is a traitor — note that Sessions is among them — and will do everything possible to keep any sort of investigation from it… and, finally, imagine how many of those voters have ties to the Clinton Foundation.
