China urges North Korea to be ‘smart’ and drop its missile tests
Washington Post ^ | Aug. 6, 2017 | Carol Morello

China delivered frank advice to North Korea, its outcast neighbor, on Sunday, telling Pyongyang to make a “smart decision” and stop conducting missile launches and nuclear tests.

The statement by Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi came on the heels of a U.N. Security Council decision to impose additional sanctions on North Korea and its exports, and suggested that the American push to further isolate the regime of Kim Jung Un is reaping some dividends. But Wang also called on the United States to dial back the tension.

It's a good sign. Hopefully, China is firm with NK in private.

When China asks you to be ‘smart’, that’s not a request.

I am sure China makes sure the Washington Post knows what is really going on.

China asks US to dial back the tension. It’s US who are in the sights of the NORK a-bombs, not China.

China needs to tell NORK to END their nuke and ICBM development programs and dismantle what they’ve built, not merely stop testing. That’s not enough.

I completely agree.

This thing is going critical. Our citizens are all supposed to be out of North Korea within three weeks.

Three weeks.

That is also, how long Trump (and most of Washington) is now on “vacation”.

I think maybe China has about three weeks to bring this mess back, to reason. I am not sure they can, or really want to, but we will see.

China should contemplate the fact that they are well in range of NK’s missiles.

Has the idea entered Trump’s mind that China may perhaps be afraid for NoKo and does not want to unnecessarily piss off Fat Boy by giving the impression that it is siding with the US?

The Norks are too close to the big one. China can say all it wants while the Norks buy time.

America has been limping this one along for 50 years. 2018 is the year we are going to cut bait. If not before.

Kim is a wack job and he will keep poking the tiger until we turn him into a smoking hole.

Its going to be ugly for the residents of South Korea.

Be a shame if one landed short and hit Iran

China’s big concern is millions of Nork refugees pouring over their border.

It’s South Korea’s concern, as well.

I am a little dense this evening. Tell me who the “big one” is.

Is it China or the US?
I don’t think that NK fears China or the US.

I think that China fears NK more than the other way around.

Same with Russia. Seems a lot of people just don't know or understand how they operate. More than a few here actually think the Russians are one of the 'good guys' in the world today. Some of these fools are probably on Moscow's payroll, and so actually know the real deal.

Russia and North Korea declare 2015 a ‘year of friendship’

“The biggest cause for concern is the growing military alliance between Russia and North Korea, with the two regimes recently announcing plans to conduct a series of joint army, navy and air force exercises this year.”
