Family looking for answers after Ocoee (FL) police kill their dog..

It is long past time to stop looking for answers and start looking for some payback on these arrogant criminal SOBs.

These dogs are often mistaken for pit-bull types. Maybe one jump and the LEO spooked and shot.

They have been trained to immediately dispatch the pet, because they have been trained for military operations, not law enforcement.

Then they are going to get a military operation in response.

“The three officers spotted a boat that they suspected was in violation of city codes. According to their report, the boat was “at risk of becoming derelict” and had tags that weren’t “affixed prominently.”

Oh now I get it, The genius cops found a boat that didn’t have a sticker or something so they decided to go shoot someone else’s dog.Makes perfect sense.

Is anyone in this thread at all interested in hearing the other side of the story before rushing to judgment? Did the cop really say to himself, “I feel like shooting a dog today”?

“They’re always whining about how they are treated and they do this. Dogs are supposed to bark when strangers show up. What a bunch of idiots”

The bad apples...and apparently a huge orchard of bad apples...make them all look rotten and to be despised. The stereotype is cast in iron with this kind of inexcusable shit.

But looking at local government politicians and the kind of police hack leadership they are responsible for its no wonder these outrages happen.

Sure sport.
Dog at own home inside fenced in yard is shot by cop who decided to go to the back of the house instead of the front door like a human being.
No body cam footage and mealy mouthed “sorry” from the spokeshead.

Why is there no bodycam footage?

“Sure seems to be a lot of trigger happy cops out there”

Nothing like giving a bunch of gun ignorant mediocrities a badge and a Block. What could go wrong?

Pits have a bad rap. Don’t blame the breed, blame the idiots who enable aggressiveness. A dog reflects the attitudes and behavior of its people. I’ve known a bunch of pits, and they were all great dogs, with one exception; but, then again, his owner was a complete reprobate.

You seem to believe that we don’t need to hear the other side because you have all the facts. Sorry, but that’s not the way our due process system is set up.

They get a rep for a reason. Like Moslems and urbans. And it’s even more genetic than those.

But a Catahoula is not a PBT, so it’s a non-sequitur.

Putting this into perspective, there are between 800,000 and 1,200,000 policemen in the United States. An average of about 1,000,000.

Assuming that 50 dogs are shot each year by law enforcement (and I am probably on the high side), we are looking at 0.02% of police killing dogs. That's a fraction of a tenth of one percent.

So the notion that our police are trigger-happy with regard to dogs is just not accurate. Considering that K-9 dogs are universally loved and adored by law enforcement, I am very skeptical that cops are out to "get dogs."

No doubt there are a few cops that make bad decisions. But in general, the cops love the canines and do not just shoot them for the hell of it.

Actually I am.

I am a huge German Shepherd fan, BTW. But then, maybe that makes me biased for cops....

I think it is not just the shootings of dogs, or other living things, by cops that riles people, but the fact that these cops are never held to account for doing it. If .02% of cops shot family dogs needlessly, and then were greatly reprimanded, or even fired, we wouldn't be seeing any real outrage. But when those .02% shoot the family dogs and then continue as if nothing happens, it is a message that says, "Only .02% of our guys are shooting your dogs, but any one of us can do it at any time, so you better bow down, peon."

As always, the message is more important than the act itself.
