Southern Methodist University officials on Tuesday revised a policy that aimed to protect students from "harmful or triggering" messages after a dispute erupted over an annual 9/11 installation that students had planned for the heart of campus.
Nearly 3,000 flags have been placed on Southern Methodist University's Dallas Hall Lawn every year since 2010, but the group responsible for the display, Young Americans for Freedom, was recently told it must be moved.
University officials told Grant Wolf, who leads SMU's Young Americans chapter, that the display can be placed only on Morrison-McGinnis Park, a less prominent campus location informally known as MoMac Park.
In a policy posted in July, SMU stated that, "The University respects the right of all members of the SMU community to express their opinions. The University also respects the right of all members of the community to avoid messages that are triggering, harmful or harassing. It is the policy of the University to protect the exercise of these rights."
The university revised the policy Tuesday.
"SMU respects the rights of all campus community members to express their opinions, as well as their right to be free from coercion and harassment. The policy has been further updated to better reflect this balance and to remove the poor wording regarding triggering or harmful messages," it said in a prepared statement.

Fixed that for you.
This will trigger alumni not to donate.
Sounds more like Southern Mental-Mess University. They are badly infected with the PC Snowflake Virus, a deadly disease spread by libtards. It destroys the common sense and logic of its victims and is passed along by libtard media and libtard “educators”. How dare they forbid the remembrance of a catastrophic event that occurred on U.S. soil and killed nearly 3,000 innocent people? Yeah, SMU admin is THAT stupid!
Anyone who is “triggered” by encountering patriotism does not belong in the United States of America, at least not outside a mental institution. If they are too delicate to handle the fact that people still mourn those who died (including several friends of mine), they are too delicate to live on their own.
How about we move the people who were ‘triggered’!
And what do we hear from the Bush family? crickets
Wonderful image of the towers. Thank you.
I didn't create it, but I do spread it around.
Far too many people have forgotten.
Lots of Muslim students at SMU. And they pay cash, so it is a big driver of profits.
To think people ie parents PAY for their children’s “education” at places like this
