Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell told his troops to get back to business, rather than take their traditional August recess.
Call it the President Donald Trump Effect. Call it the Voter Effect.
Whatever its called, fact is: Outrage over failed Obamacare repeal has forced the Senates hands.
Due to unyielding pressure from the president, combined with massive outrage from the conservatives of the nation conservatives who elected Republicans to lead all the major power corridors on Capitol Hill McConnell cut off the first two weeks of his Senates normal summer holiday.
Sen. Lindsey Graham is supposed to be bringing a new anti-Obamacare plan to the forefront.
This is quite a switch in Senate viewpoints. Why, just Friday, after Sen. John McCain defected to the Democrats as McCain is wont to do and voted thumbs-down on the repeal, a red-faced McConnell was nonetheless saying: Its time to move on.
Hmm. Apparently not.
Trumpunleashed a firestorm of tweets over the weekend, calling out the Republicans for their epic fail and suggesting the way out of the political mess was to do away with the filibuster rule.

I suspect that the Republican’ts are waiting for the 2018 PPACA premiums to come out.
They will then claim they can’t do anything about them, which will cause even a greater demand for change.
I am all for doing away with the filibuster but that will not help repealing Obamacare if you have three turncoat Republicans. One of the three has to be pulled back in.
“I suspect that the Republicants are waiting for the 2018 PPACA premiums to come out.”
when will that be?
some of my liberal fb friends are suggesting single payer is the way to go (i report, you decide).
I think McConnell has said they’ll stay in until they get Trump’s nominees voted on. That is, of course, those Trump has sent to the Senate—many have simply not been named yet.
Is Paulie Ryan letting the House go on a MONTH’S VACATION??
Epic fail is also a failure of grammar.
Issue an executive order, don’t just threaten it, that puts Congress and the Courts on Obamacare effective September 1, unless Congress repeals it before then.
Here is the correct spelling.
pusillanimous invertebrates
Truth is, they are f^^king scared $h/+less to go back home and face the voters.
Cowards to the end, those Republicans.
“McCain has a score to settle and to hell with the country”
You are correct. IMHO the Lord cannot recall him fast enough.
Hmm...invetrabrites? Not seen any kind of brite in Congress in a l-o-n-g time.
After working to see him defeated in November, since then they have done their best to frustrate President Trump and our agenda—after seven years of crowing and blustering (for the plebs back home) over how *badly* the GOP wanted to repeal the `Affordable Care’ act ... if *only* they had both houses of Congress and the White House!
Gee, the places we could go if only ....
President Trump is telling the Turtle and Lyin’ Ryan that, no—the chief executive is neither an advisory position nor is it a rubber stamp for the bought & sold critters.
Irrational hate got him shot down
He pressed his attack because he was pissed off and became irrational to the reality. He was not brave in his attack, he was irrationally stupid.
His vote was the same irrational hatred
He is not fit to serve
I wish I was more adept at using AlBore’s inter-webs thingy.
A page with links to videos of all the turncoats anti-ObamaCare statements would be very helpful at this time. They promised to repeal it.
I think it is “invetra”. From the lower Slavic Region meaning “exactly the opposite”.
When you hang you entire Party on the major platform of Repeal (full repeal, not replace) and America gives you both Chambers and the White House, to think that you can just let it slide by is either as arrogant as I think they are, or as dumb as I think they are.
The Democrats could kill that by calling pro forma sessions while everyone else was at home.
McCain hates Trump more than he loves this country. I have observed this self serving attitude in other never Trumpers as well. President Trump will soldier on without them and America will thrive because he is dedicated to Making America Great Again.
No, this is the reason they should legislate from home. Today it is entirely possible, via internet. They would then be where they could be controlled by their EMPLOYERS, not lobbyists or demented old geezers.
