Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell told his troops to get back to business, rather than take their traditional August recess.
Call it the President Donald Trump Effect. Call it the Voter Effect.
Whatever its called, fact is: Outrage over failed Obamacare repeal has forced the Senates hands.
Due to unyielding pressure from the president, combined with massive outrage from the conservatives of the nation conservatives who elected Republicans to lead all the major power corridors on Capitol Hill McConnell cut off the first two weeks of his Senates normal summer holiday.
Sen. Lindsey Graham is supposed to be bringing a new anti-Obamacare plan to the forefront.
This is quite a switch in Senate viewpoints. Why, just Friday, after Sen. John McCain defected to the Democrats as McCain is wont to do and voted thumbs-down on the repeal, a red-faced McConnell was nonetheless saying: Its time to move on.
Hmm. Apparently not.
Trumpunleashed a firestorm of tweets over the weekend, calling out the Republicans for their epic fail and suggesting the way out of the political mess was to do away with the filibuster rule.

McTurtle head does not want a Congressional recess for fear of what would happen about Session movement.
They should all fear going home where the voters might drag then into the streets and lynch them.
This by thunder is a President who is willing to throw down on those pulsilanimous invetrabrites in Congress . May the good Lord give him strength.
Presidential leadership.
McCain hates Trump so much that even Linda Graham cannot talk him into doing anything that Trump wants done. McCain has a score to settle and to hell with the country.
???
part of the Deep State - in collusion with Chuckie et al to keep POTUS from being able to make recess app’ts?

I don't want any phony replacement crap that redistributes money around and bails out the insurance companies. No, the insurance companies need to be exposed to genuine market forces.
If auto insurance can be sold by cute little gekkos, animated General, the voice of Dennis Haysbert, or NBA Chris Paul, then so too can health insurance.
They are worried about the future of their elite healthcare program.
I don’t doubt that’s exactly what’s going on!
Progress will be made.
Emperor “Thumb Down” McCain will be meeting Nero and Caligula in a short time.
“pulsilanimous invetrabrites:
You have received extra credit for word use in your post.
Phooey on all the high-minded conjecture about facing angry voters. Trump threatened to cancel the government bail-outs for Congress members and staff on the phony DC Obamacare exchange. It’s all about the money, not the principle.
No recess appointments.
Murkowski could be turned simply by Trump ordering the military out of Alaska.
The 1970’s era Alaskan pipeline is overdue for a tough federal inspection.
Given the price of Alaskan King Crab, the crabbers aren’t getting PPACA subsides.
The Eskimos are Indians so they get care via the Indian Health Service.
Maybe McCain could be called back to active service and sent by Trump to a place where he could easily be a hero or die trying.
“They can hold pro forma sessions to prevent it.”
True but that would be a brazen escalation. They can avoid it this way and no recess appointments without the bad optics of the Pro Forma. I mean we are already hacked off at them and they must know it.
