RUSH: Twitter. This stuns me. People ask me why Im not on Twitter. Im not embarrassed to answer this. I cant figure it out. I am Mr. Tech. I am the guy in this office and in anybodys home whenever anybody has a question about their iPhone, their iPad, their network, whatever, printing, its me they come to. I cant figure it out, I mean looking at it on the page. I cant figure out who is sending what and whos commenting. I dont know. I dont get these addresses @realdonaldtrump. The way it looks to me, every tweet that somebody sends it looks to me like its a tweet they received. Its just so convoluted.
My brother, who is not particularly logical, understands it to a T, and I cant figure it out. Its so frustrating I set it aside. And theres other reasons I dont do it, too, because once you hit the send button you cant get it back. But all of that is irrelevant to the news here.
Twitter Fails to Grow Its Audience, Again. This boggles my mind. There is no more promoted internet social media group than Twitter. Do you realize, if you pay attention to it, almost every quote in a Drive-By news story is a tweet? Reporters dont spend as much time calling people; they just look at their Twitter feed. This is especially true in sports. If you didnt know better, you would say Twitter is the only way people communicate. And if you thought that, you would have to accept that Twitter is omnivorous, its omnipresent.
You would think Twitter would be the biggest, wealthiest ongoing tech concern in the world based on how often its cited, based on how many people use it, based on how often it is present. I mean, tweets are published in the middle of baseball games and football games. Tweets are published during Sports Center. Tweets are published during the Drive-By newscasts, cable news.
You cant escape it, and yet their user base is declining, and their revenue is declining. Twitter Inc. failed to attract more monthly users in the second quarter, spooking investors looking for evidence that the company is on a sustainable long-term growth path. The shares tumbled the most in nine months, even as quarterly revenue topped analysts projections.
Well, topping the projections didnt mean much. Ad revenue is down. Users are declining. This doesnt make sense to me. You know, one of the old saws in the PR business youve all heard it Just as long as they spell your name right, it doesnt matter in the end what they say. Just get your name out there.
And people that dont get a lot of PR strive, work hard to try to get it, and they use Twitter as a means of getting there. And yet, as often as Twitter is cited, I mean, it is a primary source for all of journalism now. You would think, with as many references to Twitter as there are and heres another aspect of it. All of these young Millennials and young kids who are seeking fame, Twitter would seem to be the best route to go. Because Twitter is cited and quoted constantly.
So if you could come up with a Twitter account and send out pithy tweets that maybe some journalist at the Washington Post would pick up on and it gets published, then you would have your fame. It seems like a lot of people would be seeking fame and fortune via Twitter. None of this makes sense.
As often as its cited, as often as its quoted, as omnipresent is Twitter is, and its losing users? Why? Is that its difficult to use; people cant figure it out? What is it? (interruption) See, now, Snerdley just sent me a note, If you were on Twitter you would own it, and you could save them and charge them confiscatory money for saving it. (laughing) Im the kind of guy that they would block. (interruption) Oh, yes, they would! (interruption) Are you ? (interruption) They would block me. (interruption)
Jack Dorsey and that crowd at Twitter? Are you ? (interruption) Are you kidding? All I would have to do is take the wrong position on the transgender ban in the military and they would block me and theyd call it a hate site, like they do a lot of conservatives. Nah. Ive thought about it back and forth. My broadcast partners are paranoid that Im gonna go to Twitter. Theyre literally paranoid. I think theyve got back-end doorways to cancel my account if I ever start using it. (interruption) Well, they do.
Theyre scared to death of the SEND button. You cant get it back. Look, folks, Im just stunned. Take any individual. Take a movie star. The more theyre mentioned Brad Pitt! Brad Pitt gets mentioned all the time, and Brad Pitt aside from some of the stuff his fame is fortune and growing. His image is Well, it doesnt make sense that something this often referenced, this omnipresent, is losing. Its made to look like Twitter is the primary mechanism people use to say hello to each other!
It just doesnt make sense that its losing ad revenue and losing users, because its become, I think, for lazy journalists, the go-to place to get quotes, thoughts, create controversy, or what have you. A long-term turnaround depends on Twitter expanding its audience, but its going the opposite direction right now. Look, Facebook has two billion people. Twitter is at 328 million monthly active users and declining. They ought to be picking up 328 million every week, given the frequency with which its cited.
“I am Mr. Tech”
That’s about the funniest thing I’ve heard Rushh say.
From my limited experience with Twitter and Facebook, I think both profoundly suck in just about every aspect.
it’s an overhyped chat service
Those scouts will never forget the moment, day, or words from that day during which they met, saw and heard the President and straight talk. They will know for their entire lives the difference between him and and a windbag from Washington. D.C.

Once you hit the send button, you CAN get it back. Rush is uninformed.
I’ve been on since inception. I rarely use it but when I do, I want it. It’s awesome on breaking news.
President Trump must own a lot of shares in Twitter ... because he’s the only reason I even care what the hell Twitter is, or does. LOL.
Twitter is the single best news source today.
Twitter and Facebook make it easy to transmit every thought that enters your mind yet make it difficult to have a conversation. People seem to prefer this over threaded messageboards.
tweets are limited in length.
Twitter forces you to
get to the point
that is why Democrats do not like it
Facebook Twitter and YouTube or not news it’s like quoting outbrain for daily news report
Twitter works on the chain letter principle
#SaveOurDaughters
Twitter has become outright blatant in their biased discrimination against Conservatives and support of liberals. They just go on ban sprees without any reason or explanation. This is why people are quitting and their income is hurting.
I love Rush and his show.
There are two things he shouldn’t talk about: technology and the military.
He may appreciate them, but he doesn’t understand them.
Plus I think there is an alternative site for conservatives which is like Twitter but I do not have the name of it on the top of my head at the moment.
I totally agree. I’ve been in the PC software industry since 1984. I’ve seen every sort of software and webpage come and go.
Twitter is inscrutable.
Twitter has revenues of a few billion every quarter
Got the answer. It is called Gab.
