Hate U.S. values? Then, please, get out

Back in 1984 when I was a college student, I had a seasonal job as a field biologist assistant, which required camping all summer deep in the High Sierra wilderness. It was a wonderful summer living in tents and cooking over a campfire with six other students. In the evenings, we sat around the fire and cooked food, swapped stories, sang songs, read books and otherwise entertained ourselves.

Once in a while we had visitors join us. One such visitor was a student from Germany named Hanna. Her stay happened to coincide with America’s Independence Day, and that evening in honor of the occasion we sat around the campfire and sang every patriotic song we knew.

Hanna was baffled by our impromptu concert because she had never witnessed overt patriotism before. In 1984, it was still near enough to Germany’s appalling activities during World War II that love for her country was strongly tempered with shame.

Being young and enthusiastic students, we had no such reservations about America; and we belted out “The Star-Spangled Banner” and “God Bless America” with gusto, our voices rolling through the dark forests around us.

Nowadays I wonder how many college students even know the words to traditional patriotic songs, much less feel the impulse to sing them on July 4. Thanks to the influence of public education, patriotism and pride in one’s country are now seen as shameful, disgraceful and supremacist. The term “nationalism” has become horrifically offensive to liberals.

Now Patrice, you know patriotic values are no longer in vogue. For the past 8 years, someone has been pushing that story down kids throats so they'll deny anything special about the US. We didn't build it, invent it, propose it. Pretty much the US is a bane to the entire human race. Lucky for us there are plenty of folks who still remember that we ARE special. But we are at risk. Of course you'll be called a islamophobe or anti immigrant or probably a lot worse. But we know you can take it.

<>In my humble opinion, those who want to banish patriotism and abolish love of country can stuff it.<>

The Left has a hammerlock on our ruling (not governing) and popular institutions. Unless and until we take back our republic through an Article V Convention of the States, our dive into Sharia-hell is certain.

“...our dive into Sharia-hell is certain...”

And it won’t be pretty either.

Back in the early Hippy days even the labor union members were wearing T-Shirts with this slogan...

The other part of “hating America values” has to do with twisting the interpretations of what these values mean, and what has long held to be a virtue is inverted into some vicious recharacterization.

“Freedom” and “liberty” are simply passed off as “disorganization” and are totally antithetical to the “peaceful” symmetry of a completely hierarchical society.

Ants would not understand the ideal of individual responsibility, but are bound by some total imperative of loyalty to the anthill and queen. Human beings are constructed much differently, and probably from the ant’s point of view, are extremely “inefficient”. But ants have not had much in the way of social advancement is several millions of years. Human beings, on the other hand, tend to evolve rather quickly, and move to heights of accomplishment of which ants do not, could not, have any concept.

This “UN”-style attitude has been fermenting in the woodwork for a VERY long time.
It was old at the time of dear old Woodrow Wilson when he was laying down t he foundation of WW II and the Red Conquest of Europe that followed.

This has all been planned.
The African/Muslim invasion just supplies the manpower.
LEARN HISTORY!

That is all that is needed—but it seems nobody does, these days.

My patriotism has never really been focused on flags, songs, etc. It's been more about serving in the Armed Forces when called to do so (yah,I had a draft card),working hard, being self sufficient, paying my taxes, obeying the law and voting.

And yes, when I hear the National Anthem or visit a veterans' cemetery (just to name a few times) my heart does skip a beat or two.

Something that has never failed to baffle me is the leftist capability to hold heartfelt beliefs that are mutually exclusive, but never notice the conflict between those beliefs.

A perfect example is how the same sjw will go on for hours about "Ugly Americans," who travel abroad, but don't know the language or customs. These are the same sjws who demand that America bend over and provide multi-lingual government documents, after all, why should immigrants need to learn the language. Or how some courts are beginning to rule that since foreigners (i.e. 3rd world refugees from muslim countries) have different cultural values, they shouldn't be expected to follow American (or substitute your favorite European country) laws, and when they break those laws, they shouldn't be held responsible.

You have to remember in 1984, Ronald Reagan was President and people were proud of their country.

Millenials only have George W. Bush and B. Hussein Obama to look at....Bush was patriotic but feckless and let everybody roll him over, while b. Hussein hates America with every fiber of his being.

These things go in cycles. The WW II generation was raised on anti-war and anti-patriotic thought from the 1920's and '30's. In the South, they were the original anti-America flagburners when they seceded against America in 1861, yet the South is now the most patriotic region of the country.

I wonder how many kids these days and I include Barack Obama, know what the stars and stripes stand for on our flag. It would be a good man on the street question for Jesse Waters.

Adherence to *slam, a violent world-domination ideology, is de facto evidence of a rejection of this country’s values, and is sufficient reason to keep its members out of this country.

During the summer we have weekly concerts by the Sidney Civic Band. It's a volunteer band funded by local people and organizations. The final concert of this season was held last night. A full program of Sousa marches and other patriotic songs. It was held in a local church instead of in the city park because of rain. Full house. Lots of enthusiastic applause. Yes, mostly older folks (like my wife and me), but some young people as well. Patriotism isn't dead yet.
