RUSH: Theres other audio sound bites, including from President Trumps interview in the New York Times, many of you wondering why would he do that. Can I tell you about this interview? And of course he dumped on Jeff Sessions. He has been obviously irritated by Sessions recusal from the day it happened and he hasnt been able to forget it. And I must tell you weve got a sound bite of me expressing total disbelief that Sessions would recuse to Al Franken, for crying out loud. It all happened during interrogation the confirmation hearings with Al freaking Franken.
It was irritating. But there were three reporters for the New York Times that did the interview. One of them was Maggie Haberman. You know what she said? She could not believe how upbeat Trump was. She couldnt believe when she actually had a chance to talk to him, he was nice, that Ivanka brought in one of her kids, and Trump said show em how you can speak Chinese, a six-year-old, not Russian. He said, Show em how you can speak Chinese.
Can you imagine, would that have not been great if Trump says to Ivanka, Hey, have your kids show the New York Times reporters how well they can speak Russian. But it was Chinese. Anyway, she couldnt believe that Trump was as engaging and nice and upbeat. They expected to encounter somebody beaten down, ready to give up, beg for mercy or what have you, because thats what theyre trying to create, and they got just the opposite, and they were shocked by Trumps attitude, which was positive and upbeat, engaging and nice.
And you can tell reading that interview, he was happy, he enjoyed answering those questions the way he did. I havent heard a lot of it, but Ive read it. And I was really quite stricken by it. Not stricken. It shocked me, in a way, positively, of how open and real Trump was in this interview.
BREAK TRANSCRIPT
RUSH: President Trump sat for an interview with the New York Times. They put the audio of it on their website. There were three reporters, among them Maggie Haberman, who used to be a Politico. The reporters were all shocked at how engaged Trump was, how upbeat he was, how happy he seemed. Ivanka, as I say, brought in his granddaughter, six years old. He proudly asked her to show the reporters how she can speak Chinese, which she did. But he unloaded in this interview on Jeff Sessions.
THE PRESIDENT: Jeff Sessions takes the job, gets into the job, recuses himself, which, frankly, I think is very unfair to the president. How do you take a job and then recuse yourself? If he would have recused himself before the job I would have said, Thanks, Jeff, but Im not gonna take you. Its extremely unfair, and thats a mild word, to the president. So he recuses himself. I then end up with a second man whos a deputy.
RUSH: And he doesnt particularly like that guy. But the Sessions recusal was kind of shocking. I remember when it happened, and I said why? All because of Al Franken questioning during confirmation hearings? I said, This doesnt make any sense. Trumps attitude was that if Sessions hadnt recused there would be Mueller. We would have a special counsel. But since Sessions recused, that meant that there was no Trump ally who could stand in the way of the appointment of the special counsel, which is unnecessary. I must admit I was perplexed.
But I tell you also what I thought. I thought when I saw this last night, and I read it, I didnt hear the audio until just now. I read this last night, and I said, Hes sending a signal to Sessions he wants him to resign. He doesnt want to fire him. Sessions was one of Trumps earliest supporters. Hes kind of like Mike Flynn in this regard. Sessions was early with Trump, and it was about immigration, it was about the wall.
Im not sure how many of you remember, but Jeff Sessions was one of the first mainstream Republicans in the United States Senate who went all-in with Trump. He went to rallies, and Trump was proud to stand next to him and pointed him out whenever he was at a rally, brought him up on stage, let it be known that he was being considered for attorney general. Trump loved him! He was Trump when it came to the issue of immigration and law and order.
And this recusal just blindsided him. Ill tell you why. I think Trump believed, since Sessions was so willing in the Senate to go against amnesty and to go against comprehensive immigration reform, I am convinced that Trump thought that Sessions was a fighter just like Trump sees himself. And then when Sessions recused, Trump was surprised.
So this was, I think, an invitation to resign last night. Sessions came out today and says no way, I love this job, Im very tuned to it, I want to serve my country, and Im gonna continue to do this as long as its appropriate. So he sent the message back that if you dont like me here youre gonna have to fire me cause Im not gonna resign.
I got notes last night from people. Do you believe Trump would do this? Do you believe Trump would shame his own attorney general like this? And I said, It doesnt surprise me. This is not the first time Trump has done things like this. Wont be the last time, whether in the political realm or not. But he clearly has been carrying this around for a long time.
The Russian investigation and I dont know for a fact, but I know for a fact that Trump is irritated to all get out by this cause he didnt do anything and there wasnt any collusion. The Russians had nothing to do with the outcome of the election. And if I were in Trumps shoes I would be so livid about this I wouldnt be able to contain myself the way he is. It is that absurd. This is totally ridiculous.
Now, this Mueller investigation with no limits and no time limits and no financial limits, Mueller can go investigate anything and in fact said hes going to. Hes going to investigate Russians that rented apartments at Trump Tower all the way back in 2008, for crying out loud. Any Russian Trump has ever known or spoken to is going to be investigated. What this really is is the biggest opposition research program that theres ever been, sanctioned by taxpayer dollars.
You have all Obamaites and Clintonites that are Muellers lawyers here, 13 or 14 of them now. They have no limits on money, no limits on area, they can go anywhere, there are no time limits. They can dig up every bit of dirt there is on Donald Trump in preparation of the 2020 election. If nothing else comes of this, the oppo research that Mueller and his crew will create for the Democrats to use against Trump in 2020 is striking. Here is Sessions, audio sound bite number seven, this morning at the Department of Justice.
Jeff Sessions responds to Trump's criticism: I love my job and will stay as long as it's appropriate
SESSIONS: We in this Department of Justice will continue every single day to work hard to serve the national interests, and we wholeheartedly join in the priorities of President Trump. He gave us several directives. One is to dismantle internet transnational criminal organizations. Thats what were announcing today, the dismantling of the largest dark website in the world by far, and I congratulate our people for that. I have the honor of serving as attorney general. Its something that goes beyond any thought I would have ever had for myself. We love this job, we love this department, and I plan to continue to do so as long as that is appropriate.
RUSH: Meaning, youre gonna have to fire me, cause I love it, and Im honored to have it, and I dont want to leave. Skip forward to number nine. This is Maggie Haberman. Shes one of the three reporters that the New York Times assigned to this interview, three reporters to do an interview. I guess they all need plausible deniability when the fake news gets published. Anyway, she was on Anderson Cooper 360 last night on CNN. Cooper said, How did Trumps demeanor seem? How did he seem compared to other times that youve spoken with him?
HABERMAN: Incredibly upbeat, you know, when I contrast him on Air Force One last week and today with some of what we saw earlier in the administration, for whatever reason, he seems to be in a pretty good place.
RUSH: Yeah, imagine that, for whatever reason, he seems to be in a pretty good place. We havent destroyed him yet, Anderson, but were working on it. Be patient, buddy. Well take him out sooner or later.
BREAK TRANSCRIPT
RUSH: Ill tell you something else Trump did in that interview with the New York Times. He accused Comey of trying to use that dossier with fake Trump intel in it as leverage against him. Now, Comey presents it to him on January 6th, I think it was. That put it in the public domain. That meant that everybody could talk about it now. Comey gives it to him, so its news, the president was given this intel report its that dossier golden showers and all that Trump let it be known he suspected Comey was trying to set him up with leverage first by telling him about the dossier and letting Trump know that it was out there and it was forming the basis of an investigation.
Trump to this day does not think hes under investigation. He does not think Mueller is going after him. Now, Dan Abrams, who used to work at MSNBC now works at Mediaite, I think is his site, he was on Good Morning America today, and he said, Ive never seen a president go after an attorney general, assistant attorney general, FBI director, deputy FBI director in the same interview. Weve never seen a president go after law enforcement like this. He predicts that Trumps gonna fire Mueller inside of a hundred days. And if he does that, Trump supporters are gonna rally like you cant believe it. Theyre not gonna be embarrassed and theyre not gonna be upset, theyre gonna applaud. Do not doubt me.
They sense whats going on and thats exactly the kind of behavior they expect from Trump because its a swamp. He said hes gonna drain the swamp. And no Trump supporter expects Trump to just sit there idly and let these people destroy him. Thats not who Trump is. Not for the sake of the system, not for the sake of the establishment, not for the sake of tradition, no. You dont sit here and allow them to ruin you just to preserve some system. So we shall see.
Trump’s current battle, with the highest level bureaucrats, is his most dangerous test to date. If he survives this, he will go full term. We will know in a few months.
14 lawyers making $500/hour?
With no limits on how long they can bill taxpayers?
And with no evidence of Russia collusion which affected the election?
I am livid, mad, and I want nothing short of the POTUS immediately firing Mueller & DAJ & Sessions. Before it is too late, and too much money is spent on taxpayer funded oppo research.
Mueller may be doing Trump a favor by overstepping reasonable bounds and going into Trump’s private business.
This whole thing is total BULL$hit and I don’t see why taxpayers should have to pay for it.
The whole thing is a carefully orchestrated distraction to hinder legitimate investigations into Clinton and Democratic corruption of the past few years.
If nothing is done to investigate and prosecute these corruptions, then what will stop HRC from running again and using her lack of prosecution as a valid defense to any criticism of her crimes?
I only hope Sessions and staff is already doing their investigations. The longer they wait the weaker the cases will become.
How much time and resource did the FBI/Comey put into investigating Hillary emails? Might be a benchmark for trump to use in scoping the upper limit of the Mueller fiasco.
I voted for Trump and agree with all his policies. I think he’s done a great job as president, I also think the Russia story is a witch hunt, orchestrated by democrats and RINOs, lead by Ryan, who despise Trmp and want him gone. With that said, Trump is his own worse enemy because he does not know when to keep his mouth shut. For the last two years when things are going good for him he ruins it by talking to much. That’s his personality and I don’t think he can change. The problem is it doesn’t work with politicians because ever word out of their mouths is dissected with a fine tooth comb, and especiallly with Trump because he’s hated by the democrats and the Washington elites in his own party. I wish he didn’t give them so much ammunition but that’s him. He stays frustrated because his agenda has been hijacked for the last 6 minths by the Russia garbage and he has no one on his side in Washington DC, especially Ryan and McConnell.
That alone comes to almost half a million dollars a week. With office space, hired help, and outside services it's easily a million every week ... for a witch hunt seemingly in service to the Demonic rats.
It is a very sad situation but it could blow up in the face of Sessions, Mueller etc. in the end.
Donald Trump is up against evil banking and business forces.
Call them Globalists, Corporatists whatever you want.
They are more powerful than sovereign governments in general and they think they are more powerful than Donald Trump, the President of the United States.
The recusal only makes sense if Sessions was bribed or blackmailed. Don’t know why everyone wants to dance around that. JMO.
I don’t see Sessions as particularly devious. How did he ever survive so long in D.C. by staying under the radar?
I thought that AGs nowadays just do what the president wants. I didn’t know that they make their own decisions.
If Trump was irritated with Sessions, he could have just as easily expressed his irritation in private. Trump is a powerful leader, and for that we can be thankful. However, he is not as much of a moral leader. That is one of his most prominent weaknesses. It is what it is. He’s our man for now, for better or for worse. It doesn’t mean that we need to cheer his every move. Sessions is a good man. Trump may be a good leader, but he isn’t necessarily a good man. Sessions deserved better. But breathe deep and hold on to the horse we rode in on, I guess. Be thankful that Hillary isn’t in charge.
Please Freepers, pray a little harder for our President and his family.
It is absolutely evil the way his Party and enemies are attacking him.
Dear Lord, please protect our President and his family.
Get rid of Mueller, get rid of the Assistant AG, and if Sessions can't be of any use, get rid of him, too. This whole Russian thing is taking attention and money from the real work that needs to be done, i.e. draining the swamp, getting rid of Odungocare, getting rid of illegal criminal invaders, and building that wall nice and HIGH.
"Dreamers" be damned! Why are the so-called Republicans authoring any bills to allow interlopers to stay here?
How do we know that Mueller is expanding his investigation to go into Trump's private business? I only ask this question to illustrate a tendency I have been noticing for some time. Normally, information put out by any mainstream media outlet is, at the very least looked at with suspicion, but when Bloomberg News alleges that someone close to the investigation says they are expanding the inquiry, we seem to take it as gospel. So far, I haven't seen a statement from the Special Counsel detailing any substantive information about the investigation.
It was interesting that in the June 8, 2017 Senate Intelligence Committee hearing Senator James Risch (R) Idaho referenced a NY Times story of February 14, 2017 in which it was reported that electronic surveillance at the Trump Tower showed the Trump campaign was colluding with the Russians. The Senator revealed that after the story ran, Comey had sought out Senators and informed them that the story was false but was not able to inform the general public of that fact. Comey agreed the Senator was correcct and went on to state the following about reports based on unidentified sources: People talking about it often dont know what is going on and people who do know are not talking.
Despite Comeys credibility on other fronts, he was making an important and very valid point which, at various time other such as AG Sessions deputy AG Rosenstein have also made. Real professionals in both law enforcement and intelligence do not talk in public about their work while people with an axe to grind often engage in disinformation for their own purposes. While a person inexperienced in either the intelligence or justice system might find it hard to accept that those with accurate information would refuse to set the public record straight, there is a valid reason they dont do so. (Actually, this seems to be one of President Trumps areas of frustration. I suspect that almost any of us in a similar situation would want someone in a position to know the truth to simply stand up and say, they are lying. It will not happen but it is certainly not an unreasonable desire.)
Especially in these times, we need to remain wary of information from unidentified people. Emotions are easily manipulated and, with there being no evidence that any law has been violated by the Trump campaign, the only vulnerability would be if he could be goaded into making a major mistake.
He definitely needs our prayers
Well you’re right...maybe we’re just being fed baloney.
But for sure Mueller has hired too many people to go after a nothing burger and apparently no constraints were put on him at the beginning. This wouldn’t happen in the real world. But on taxpayer’s money a 7k/hr group can go fishing for years.
I’m beyond disgusted! Mueller is seems doesn’t mind trading what’s left of his soul for an hourly rate.
I listened to the hearings that day and they also tried to get Sessions to recuse himself from voting on any of the nominees. He seemed to agree, but later did vote. He’s a good man, but not a strong man, IMHO. Trump needs a pit bull in that position and he’s got a yellow lab instead.
Yellow labs are loyal, I think he got a morky.
