An Australian woman living in Minnesota has prompted outrage in her home country, which has among the strictest gun-control laws in the world.
As The Associated Press reports, Damond's relatives and friends are demanding answers about her death at the hands of Minneapolis police last weekend. The debate over Damond's death has also shone a light on the way the United States regulates access to guns compared to the rest of the world.
Below, Stanford University Law professor John Donohue delves into some of those differences and examines their effectiveness.

Oh yeah, Dat’s da ticket.. take guns away from cops. Brilliant!!!
The person who shot her was a COP..so they want guns taken away from cops now LOL..maybe they can carry bananas instead those banana peels can be deadly
Why are all these people upset?! It was a White woman from a Christian nation shot by a non-White, Muslim immigrant. Time to move on. Nothing to see here.
But the incident portrays a possible consequence of a society in which cops are the only people who have guns. Once the citizenry is disarmed, the ones with the guns become more powerful, and therefore more arrogant and likely to eschew discipline and adherence to civil rights.
I agree. Somali cops should not be armed.
Justifiable?
Hire muzzy Intifada bound cops and give them guns and watch what happens to blonde woman with no head covers.
Take away guns from immigrant Somali cops.
In pajamas too.
There is no mention of the circumstances surrounding the shooting. There is also statistical evidence showing the homicides are lower in areas where gun ownership is high.
Better yet, don’t let ANY mohammadan immigrants of any sort become cops.
Hey, the rest of the world and its governments hate the US because we are armed to the teeth, and our govt knows that there is no way to disarm us ( but they would, either or both parties in my estimation).
If the world thinks citizenry being armed is a bad thing, there are worse- an unarmed citizenry. Look at every totalitarian govt and their atrocities- all first disarmed the population, radicalized the youth, tore down the church and terrorized the adult populations, resulting in the 20th century being the bloodiest ever per capita by far.
Anyone who thinks private arms are bad has never been victimized by either a govt or the criminal elements, but I repeat myself.
When the Muslim hordes invade Australia, they will be met with little or no armed resistance.
See my post you responded to.
