Trump Throws Out Bombshell Accusation That Comey Tried to Hold Dirt Over His Head

In a wide ranging interview with The New York Times, Trump threw his Attorney General Jeffrey Sessions under the bus for deciding to recuse himself from the Russia probe. A decision Trump called “very unfair” to the president.

But, maybe even more shocking, he claims that FBI Director James Comey tried to hold the salacious dossier over his head, in order to gain “leverage” over him. It had previously been reported that when administration officials briefed the president at Trump Tower in January, Comey pulled him aside and told him about the details of the now infamous dossier which included unverified reports of Trump’s sexual encounters while in Russia.

Why did Comey bring this up? Trump has a new theory.

From The New York Times report:

In the interview, Mr. Trump said he believes Mr. Comey told him about the dossier to implicitly make clear he had something to hold over the president. “In my opinion, he shared it so that I would think he had it out there,” Mr. Trump said. As leverage? “Yeah, I think so,’’ Mr. Trump said. “In retrospect.”

The president dismissed the assertions in the dossier: “When he brought it to me, I said this is really, made-up junk. I didn’t think about any of it. I just thought about man, this is such a phony deal.”

The 35 page document, first published by Buzzfeed, was full of uncorroborated allegations that were comprising for the president was reportedly written by former British spy Christopher Steele .

During congressional testimony in June, Comey said he alerted President Trump to the dossier for the following reasons (very different from what Trump contends):

The IC leadership thought it important, for a variety of reasons, to alert the incoming President to the existence of this material, even though it was salacious and unverified. Among those reasons were: (1) we knew the media was about to publicly report the material and we believed the IC should not keep knowledge of the material and its imminent release from the President-Elect; and (2) to the extent there was some effort to compromise an incoming President, we could blunt any such effort with a defensive briefing

Comey was asked by a Senator Richard Burr whether the FBI was able to confirm any criminal allegations contained in the document. Comey told the senators that he couldn’t answer the question in the public forum because it might go into some details of the ongoing public investigation.

CONTEXT: James Comey who claims he should NOT speak with the president alone about matters concerning the president - Took the president elect aside and spoke to him alone about exactly that subject. Comey is pure filth.

I believe Trump... but don’t understand why he would waste his time giving the NYT an interview.

************************************************************

And you can bet your sweet A*S there was NOTHING of any consequence in the entire horsesh*t dossier. If there was ANYTHING at all we would have known about it within about 30 minutes of the behind closed doors briefing Comey gave the committee.

Comey was part of the swamp. Trump had to fire him.

It is here that the Remove and Replace must start. All of them. No exceptions.

And let’s not forget that it was John McCain who sought out that dossier, sent an aide overseas specifically to retrieve a copy, and then turned it over to Comey.

Cuz Haberman has threatened to publish his tax returns.

...

Wasn’t it the NYT that got the anonymous tax returns from past years? I figure Trump sent those to them and I figure Trump is using them for a purpose this time, too.

I think everything he told them is strategic, and may not be what it appears on the surface.

The most important position to draining the swamp is probably the AG....And sessions looks to be one of them. He has pursued Asset Forfeiture (5th ammend violation) and imposed on the state marijuana laws. While Comey, Shulze, Clinton, Podesta, Lynch, Holder, and others walk free without even a charge brought up against any of them. I think that by next year, he will have charged/investigated none of the elite criminals. And the clintons will continue to remove (arkincide) all oposition.

As far as I can tell, Sessions recused himself from the entire job and basically does this all day long.

Or all potential witnesses at a minimum. If I was a whistleblower, I certainly would not feel protected to testify with Jeff at the helm.

“I think everything he told them is strategic, and may not be what it appears on the surface.”

From the master deal maker himself. Seems as though 95% of the people on this forum are just too danged eager to get any comeuppance. Trump is never satisfied with “just any”. He always goes for the whole enchilada. Getting there is the challenge and one that he is very much up to.

Totally agree, if the past is any indication. Trump is crazy like a fox.
