10a asks for race, black, white, Hispanic, Native American or Alaskan, Hawaiian. Used to be answering that question was optional. I wonder if they'll ask for genetic testing in the future? Only half serious.

I think they have a way to keep them even though they are not supposed to. Some trick with making backup copies for “disaster recovery” then simply keeping the backup tapes.
SOMEONE got race/sex data from somewhere, the simplest place to get that is the 4473 forms.

"Hmmm... I see no "Race:" entry on my Texas CHL." And I don't recall the background check form asking for one's race. Even if it did aren't they supposed to destroy those and not keep them as a defacto gun registration?
Partner, they do ask you to fill out the race when purchasing a gun here in Texas. It would not be on your Texas CHL.
