NOT to demean the Senator’s condition, but I can see McCain playing this for all he can wring out of it.

They’re so full of themselves, if he returns, they will name the bill after him. That is, if there’s a bill to vote on.

Somewhere in what’s left of his brain is the thought of a bit of immortality as the final Senate vote needed to convict an impeached Trump. That’s consistent with his self image.

He will not have long “playing this for all he can wring out of it!” Looking at the statistics on this cancer, he could well be dead before the end of the year, but in any case sufficiently impaired to cause his involuntary departure from the Senate.
A close personal friend ( who was 77) died last Friday of this cancer. He was diagnosed last September and had all the recommended treatments including major brain surgery. Since about February he had been bed-ridden in a hospice, and by the time he passed, he could not even speak. For the good of our country ( and I know that’s a stretch for McCain) he should resign immediately so that a healthy person can take over his “duties.”
