I’m sure all the leftist-green cyclers in Oregon will complain about tax, but still focus on hating Trump and conservatives.

The phenomenon is called “cognitive dissonance.”

Double the tax...but earmark it for those ridiculously expensive bicycle paths. We have miles and miles here of paved paths. I have yet to see anyone on a bicycle. (I know they do use it...but so few for the money.

And now we have doggie parks. There should be a fee...sick of supporting "extras".

If you drive a car, I’ll tax the street
If you try to sit, I’ll tax your seat
If you get too cold I’ll tax the heat
If you take a walk, I’ll tax your feet

Taxman!

Cos I’m the taxman, yeah I’m the taxman

“She just continues to view the people of her state as nothing more than a piggy bank to fund her efforts to impose job-killing policies,” said Mr. Currier in a statement. “Now add anti-healthy, environmentally-unfriendly policies to that list.”

Well, guess who elected her?

Welcome to liberal paradise where tax-payers main purpose is to fund liberal pipe dreams.

Will there also be registration?

What about home builts?

Look for a new 25.9 inch diameter design to become available.

Or maybe they will be smuggled in from out of state - - OH NO!

Dog parks are typically placed on capped landfills. The land can't be used for much else.

Bike paths are most often following abandoned rail lines, where the railroad reserves their access for future redevelopment if needed.

Smart public use parks and trails can be of very little if any cost to the taxpayers.

But that means keeping the greedy MF'ers that feed on government out of the planning process.

Well said. Plus the vast majority of cyclists also drive cars and pay taxes just like non-cyclists. Electric assist bikes allow more people to use this virtually free mode of transportation and those looking for health benefits still get them because they will rider longer and more often.

Still as a cylist, I’d pay a special tax with the provision that 100% of the revenue would be spent on non-motorized vehicle access, including pedestrian and bicycle paths and trails.

The weather in the NW is bike unfriendly 6-8 months of the year..bike paths in all but downtowns mostly go unused...but they insist on having them.

And just wait until they start registering them like cars and have to pay additional fees.

I always appreciate this kind of poetic justice.

It's a $15 tax on the purchase of adult-sized bicycles to pay for improvements to bike lanes.

I see no problem with this.

At least they're not forcing everyone to pay the tax (or just smokers).

I'd gladly pay this tax for improvements to bike lanes where I live. I'd love to ride my bike five miles to the store. It's great exercise but I'm not about to risk my life riding on the side of the road with cars zipping past me.

Plentiful, safe bike lanes were something I took for granted living in Colorado. I just assumed they were everywhere. Moving to Jacksonville, I learned different.

I had to pay a bicycle tax and get a tag for my bicycle from Cheyenne, Wyoming, for the year 1958. This isn’t anything new. The bike had to get a new tag every year.

Be watching for bicycle toll booths with FasTrac.
