The only “registered” firearms in Colorado are select-fire.
NONE of mine are “registered”.
This data is crap if they want us to believe WDC has a hire density of gun owners than Colorado.
I’m not about to cllck through 53 frames of CBS crap.
1. "Registered" - Puhleeze. The rest of the country isn't Washington DC and New York City.
2.I love "n dispersed among n2 Million" stats which is meant to imply that firearm possession is in the extreme minority of Americans. I think we have more firearms on our block than they think are in all of Virginia! And they ain't "registered".
3. The choice of photos to accompany this click-bait propaganda piece are also illustrative: they tried to pick pictures of overweight people with pastel ARs, little kids handling firearms, and folks firing machineguns to give their base of fainting women and men who want to be women the impression that only the craziest people own firearms.
Sorry, CBS - Hillary didn't get elected and Obama's gone home. You wasted your time.
Florida #30?
Wake up Gators, Noles, Crackers, etc. We’re not trying hard enough!
The rational behind that load of tripe is to seed the idea that there aren’t really that many gun owners in the US and therefore it’s entirely reasonable to enact more strict regulations or bans.
Afterthought - Most of the states have no “registration” schemes, anything listed as registered in those states is probably a federally registered class III weapon, that would jibe with the ridiculously low numbers in some places.
Re the afterthought, That IS it, this is only registered NFA devices.
“In other words, the only thing they did is count NFA firearms which is almost nil.”
They did look at census data.
Data is skewed by what’s legal where. Only smooth bore pistols are legal NFA items in NY; not only is every other NFA category illegal, but what little is legal is suppressed by lack of infrastructure & interest & culture.
What BS.
Idaho residents are smart enough not to give out such information. You’ll find out what they have when you come through the window at 3 a.m.. ;o)
How are things going in Idaho? I’m still hoping to get out of WA before I croak.
But each of the pictures has a little blurb on it, about the ranking, and the number of firearms per 1,000 people.
This is BS.
Texas should be #1, and Georgia should be tied with Alaska for #2.
Except for my assholic state of NJ. I can’t wait to exit.
Well, I'm reeling...somewhere off the NC coast.
The only text that accompanies all the pics is this:
As America reels from yet another mass shooting, inevitable questions resurface about guns laws and the nation's pervasive firearm culture. Here is a look at per capita weapons data, based on the ATF's National Firearms Registration and Transfer Record, and 2013 data from the U.S. Census.
While the ATF's National Firearms Registration and Transfer Record is the only accessible list of its kind, it is not all-inclusive. NFA firearms only include the categories regulated by The National Firearms Act of 1934: machine guns, short-barreled rifles, short-barreled shotguns, suppressors, destructive devices like bombs and grenades, concealable devices with the ability to discharge a shot through the energy of an explosive, and any firearm with a bore over half an inch that has not been determined to have a legitimate sporting use.
Tried three different browsers. Same result.
Is there a list?
well, Texas came in #18...can you imagine? I know that’s not right. Some people have 20 - 30 guns. Not me, but we have guns for protection and guns for hunting.
I didn’t see a list. There are just a series of pictures, with a little blurb about each state, starting with the least armed, and going to the most armed.
I agree that CBS lacks an intelligent factual basis for this story, but when has that ever stopped them before???
Commie Bull S+%& (CBS). Why should I believe
this?
CBSNEWS: Corrupt Bull Sh..Not Everyone Will See
They could not accurately count and honestly report the number of phones in an old Ma Bell phone booth.
